If I had a lot more time at home and our fire pit were more easier to get to from the kitchen then I'd do wood. But it's gas. The gas grill is on the deck and the fire pit is down the stairs from there and halfway across the yard so wood is only for those nights when we're going to spend the whole evening out there. And for camping. Charcoal? That's really just long lasting kindling.
