Like this?
A couple of years ago I went to Home Depot to get a pallet of landscape stones. I told the guy with the forklift that I would get my van and pull up to be loaded. He stuttered a bit and said Are you sure? Your van? He's thinking "woman= minivan.
I pulled up to the loading area and the van drew a crowd. The lift driver says, "I'm impressed!"
I opened the back doors and instructed him to load 'er up! Put the pallet over the axle." He loaded it and the van didn't even squat an inch. The pallet weighed 4200 lbs.
10 mpg, loaded or empty.

This is my 1987 Trans Am GTA, fully loaded. Has 33K miles on it.
This is my 1989 Turbo Trans Am 20th Anniversary Pace Car. Has 44 miles on it (not 44k). It's a trailer queen.

Dream ride is one that is PAID for.
|
I have a '97 Metro, a '97 Powerstroke, and an '03 Focus. All paid off.
I'm not seeing where any of them are particularly dreamy...
(Well, okay...maybe the pickup )

I want my '87 IROC-Z back on the road. I dream of it being hot rodded and lots of modern features. I miss driving it, so as long as it ran i would be happy.
I like the tank idea also.
And i want one of the 260 hp seadoos. I figuratively have wet dreams about them.

There is a 1959 Chevy Apache pickup for sale close to me for $2500 that is in pretty good shape, runs, and can even pass state inspection. Very little rust, straight 6 with 3 on the tree, good glass etc.
I am having a hard time not going for a closer look....please someone tell me this is not a good idea and talk me out of this. Here is the craigslist link:
59 Chevy Apache 3/4 ton truck
I have the money but have eleventydozen projects already and the shop is full of equipment being restored/repaired now. But then, these deals dont come up often do they? And I could store it in the hay mow until I get ready to build on it right? But then I already have a couple of pickups and am really looking for a hotrod...but then I like the look of the Apache...on the other hand.....

My dream machine is my 1928 track T. Needs sunny warm weather though. Otherwise I will stick with my '52 Chevy pickup, all original except new wood flatbed. It came from the factory as a 1/2 ton cab and chassis, Pepsi installed a stake bed....James

Yep. They changed the springs in 78 or 79(?) After that they weren't "high."
And apparently only the 4x4s (F250) were "high."
We have a 2WD '74 Supercab and it's not...

I've been eyeballin my cousins new truck with a bit of envy. Low mileage, excellent condition F 450 crew cab, powerstoke 7.3, duallies and 4 wheel drive. It's like a wishlist for my perfect farm P/U.

Great thread! My first dream truck is in my driveway, 97 Silverado 1/2 ton extended cab, paid off long ago and with 297,000 miles on it. Of all the decisions I've made, buying this truck (used) was one of the best. This truck has been perfect for me.
My second dream truck would be to get a Silverado Z71 4x4 with tow package, extended cab, 1/2 ton. I'd like to get one of whatever year that still has the Vortec V-8 and the old style cab interior. I'd get the cab corners and rocker panels replaced and the the body cleaned up, undercoated, etc., and then just drive it forever.
I really don't like how the newer cabs seem so much smaller on the inside, and they don't make the big engine anymore, from what I've heard.
If we're really off into dreamland, somewhere I would find a 1980 Buick Regal T-Type. One never forgets their first love, you know?
