I live on 7 acres of what was once a 350 acre pecan orchard planted in the 70's. I had nearly 200 trees, but they have been dieing off . I was told the entire orchard was sprayed with something that was supposed to be beneficial to pecans and instead nearly killed the whole lot.

Anyway, I still have about 100 and if I had my way Id get rid of all but maybe 20.

We have picked up pecans a few times when they made and there is money in it, in the years they make.

I have always been told pecans make every other year. That was pretty true where I grew up with decent rainfall, but here its about 1 in 3 years.

Personally, I would figure on making some pocket money, but I would bet the bank on pecans.

Oh yeah, the 300 acres behind me was sold to the local orthodontist ( Along the county road in front it was divided into 6-7 acre tracts like mine). He brought in 2 D-8 dozers and pushed all the trees in piles, burned the piles and then dug holes and pushed the burned stumps and stuff in a cover it over, broke the land, installed a pivot and either plants oats to run yearlings on or farms it in milo or cotton. The water board here wont allow irrigating pecan trees.
