I think we are well past believing elderberries, garlic or oregano protects us from influenza. The big flu at the turn of the 20th century, killed healthy people first. The flu messed with the body's immune system and the better it was the sicker you got, killing millions world wide. Probably won't spread now like it did in 1914, so much less travel today.
Gee, have you had your titer checked for the CURRENT flu strains?

Your belief in the pharmaceutical companies is as disturbing to me as people using natural remedies is to you.

I'd love to see a valid study that demonstrates flu vaccine efficacy. I really would.

You really have to be careful with flu shots these days. There are over 80 different strains of the flu within the continental United States. Do you know which strain is prevalent in your particular area?

Anytime I am around the folks giving the shots I always ask them what strain their shot is for. I am yet to get an answer other than "for the strain in this area". And when I ask which strain that might be.........you got it..... No one can ever tell me. So just to needle them a bit I have to ask the obvious. How do you know that the shot you are giving is for the strain in this area?

As it stands now...they hate to see me coming these days. I would always ask the shot givers or medical staff if they know the answers to these questions.

Flu strains do not necessarily originate in Asia but they do percolate there because of the large populations - human to human transfer which changes the virus as it moves from each person. Some of the worst flu viruses of the past century were from Spain and Russia. If you recall the swine flu first called Influenza A/H1N1 emerged in Mexico and the United States in 2009. The Homesteaders and small scale farmers have raised poultry and pigs side by side for centuries and yet the combination of swine and avian flu with inclusion of human flu virus is new. Something has changed in the make up that allows the combination and an easier spread from species to species.

When the flu vaccines first came out, I didn't hear any hype about them. I choose not to get them because I believe it actually weakens our bodies immune systems same as taking antibiotics for every little thing.

I very rarely get sick. Sometimes I will feel a little congestion coming on but it rarely turns into a full blown illness. I think that is my immune system doing it's job.

And I won't thank all those people who get the shots for keeping me from getting sick. I went to school until recently. Several people got sick every year after getting it.

Oh, and I don't vaccinate my animals for anything but rabies. They are healthy as well.

I am in the same boat. The keys of health are VERY simple; Eat more natural less processed foods, avoid immune system depressants like SUGAR, eat your buggers, and at least 250mg of vitamin c per day-at LEAST, and walk at least two miles daily.

If schools would follow their own rules (the ones they claim but will not follow) and make kids go home when sick and teachers and office workers and cashier etc..would stay home instead of bringing the illness in, to keep jobs, the illnesses spreading would be stopped in their tracks. I personally think that school officals and bosses and business owners should be held accountable.
