After you get a good alarm system, what do you do when you don't want them to come to your house??
Have you tried an electric door knob??

We peek out the window and see who it is. If they are unwanted, sometimes it gets very quiet inside until that alarm goes off one more time as they leave. They are always nice enough to leave some of their literature, though.

The intent is to determine if it is friend or foe driving up to your house. Friends and family will most always call to say they are coming. The foes are who we hope to intervene their intentions. It is just a little extra protection for those of us who live way out in the country and cannot hear cars coming up our driveway.

Both Costco and Harbor Freight offer complete surveillence systems with cameras and recorder for $299, if you have that much to spare. I am seriously considering getting one to guard the house, barn and farm shop areas.

Here is the H-F system, just wait til it is on sale for $299...

Here are the Costco offerings...

HF runs ads in American Rifleman and other magazines and some newspapers. There is always a 20% off coupon in the ad, good for items not on sale. With the coupon, it would be $280, on sale $299.

Dakota Alert offers magnetic sensors also - http://www.absoluteautomation.com/da...-alarm-system/ - that should stop your false alarm problems.
