Yes Pony, I have been in Southern Mo a few times. Still planning the big move just before Christmas. Not sure if we will actually be in MO right away though, because we haven't bought a place yet, and haven't found a place to stay in Mo until we do Buy. It will be interesting to see how things work out though.

Are we going to have a bidding war for Pony? 'Cause I'll pay top dollar

It also sounds like I need to tour the SE part of SWMO and see some people lol. Y'all live a couple hours from me except for Batt and his wife are only about an hour. Suzy is about an hour too I guess.

Lots of HT people in my area. WLW, is about an hour, Big RP would only be about 5-10 minutes if you didn't have to drive around the lake. I can see DaynaJ's place form my front yard (She lives on top of a hill in the distance). Calfkeeper is only about 20 minutes and CollegeBoundGal is between us and Springfield. Can't swing a cat around here without hitting a HT'r or someone with similar philosophies.

Can' afford to pay, but I'll offer a home cooked meal, and an open invitation to a cup of coffee, usually cinnamon rolls on Monday's.

MO meeting place

Pomme de Terre has a beautiful corp park, free primitive camping , limit 2 weeks, and a nice pavillion for a meeting. First come, first taken. That would be a very good place for a informative meeting. Big Rock could get there early in the morning, and hold the pavillion, or if someone likes to fish, would be a good place to camp and have breakfast for the early risers.
We used to hold family reunions every year, but my family is about all gone now, and the younger ones are not into doing any of the work, so that is a thing of the past.

If someone else has a suggestion, just enter in. I think an annual Homesteading reunion would be just wonderful.

In my opinion-Springfield & Lebanon are both nice towns, seems can find about anything in either town......I live on up the highway in Crawford county past Rolla area......

If i need anything much of anything i have to go to Rolla or Sullivan shopping,Rolla actually has more to offer though or either St louis or Springfield.........and i am about in the middle of both big towns....

Potato Park sounds like fun.

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in some sort of get-together over the Christmas weekend. Nick has a couple of days then, Emily (God bless her) is willing to put up with us for a couple of days, the realtor is also tied down to animals so she's not going anywhere (we should get her hooked on HT), and we found someone to chore, so that's our target for the next trip down.

Looks like we'll be heading down on the 23rd, leaving Christmas Day.

Anyone in the area want to meet up for coffee somewhere? We'll be staying with Ozark Jewels.

Well, we'll be looking at a place late Saturday morning. We could meet at the Schetler cafe ini Cabool for coffee/lunch.

Unless someone has a better suggestion. I was going to say, "Let's meet in Springfield" but that would be insane on Christmas Eve.

i would stay away from green county. south of there is fine and there are still some decent priced properties if you get away from the towns. but you must be self sufficient and be able to generate your own income. plenty of streams for sucker fishing and many conservation and corp areas for hunting. people tend to mind their own business and a little standoffish. don't hold your breath waiting for people to accept you.
