The pipes would freeze every night, requiring me to run a Reddi heater before going to bed for a half hour and then a half hour when I woke up. I have wood heat, but the furnace is small so I'm lucky if I get 3 hours worth of burn time. The house itself has no insulation, shot windows, drafty to the point where the wind blows the curtains move. Within a matter of a half hour during the coldest time of the year the house will be below freezing from 65 degrees without having the heat on. I'm dreading this winter.
Trying to figure out why electric heat is bad, when it sounds like the house is in need of some major maintenance.

Because they live in Wisconsin ~Burrrrr~ I lived in Minnesota and my first home was electric and we froze our fannies off. The next home we moved, we had a wood furnance in the garage that blew heat through the vents, awwwww and a small wood stove in the kitchen for instant heat, much better for when it's 30 below and the wind is cutting you like a knife.
