I used to enjoy watching the red foxes chase the feral cats at the feedlot in broad daylight.

Oh gosh...I'm so sorry. I'd be super protective too. Definitely try to get him to come in at night to be on the safe side.

If you know you have coyotes around, definitely leave the fox to help the cat keep mice and other vermin down. Those coyotes will take out your cat much quicker and vermin will draw them to you. That fox may be some of your cat's best protection.
