I've also had a LOT of trouble. Sometimes I can't navigate at all, and my computer simply locks up here. I can go anywhere else and have no problems, then come back and it's snail slow again or locks me up. I see the adds thing trying to function while it's stuck, I can hit refresh tons of times and sometimes it works, sometimes not. It's tremendously frustrating at times. Often I just give up and don't come back much because of it.

I posted about it weeks ago in the computer section and don't think I had any responses at all.

I think the ad is the banner at the top of the page, but the info bar at the bottom of the page in IE has info on how the load is going, and what's looding, it seems to get stuck on adclick, or googleads, or variations on that, with the page just stuck in place and won't move, forward, backwards, or anything. Seems to happen a lot when trying to use private messeges for me. Click the inbox to see messages, and just endless nothing happening-ness, only the info bar saying its waiting for all the ad junk.

I think it is a lot of times that these folks that experience such slow times is mostly the internet being slow.
But I will tell you this, 3 years ago i had such a hard time keeping this site up, it was pathetic. Many times a WEEK I had to clear out cookies, history etc. just to keep posting it was so slow.
BUT after I got this new computer I have only had once or twice when it was slow, 99.8% of the time it is just as fast day in and day out, even into the wee hours of the AM.
So that IMO points to the computers fault. I don't know. Just a FYI. I guess.
And it maybe Internet explorer too who knows.
All I can say is this iMac running Safari is fast, and this site hardly ever messes up anymore
And another FYI there is a free PC Version of Safari, if anybody is interested that is.
Note:
The slowness I had experienced was pages freezing up, hard to even post at times, and when I did the page may freeze up and would take forever to get back to normal, That was before I bought this new computer.
I later found out that the computer I was using at the time was over 7 years old, and the hard drive was about to fail PLUS it had very little ram memory, like 256.
WAY to low to run XP with sp3 on it. Made for internet net searching even slow, and slow to even Boot up in the AM like 10 Minutes to even get it started up. Thats why I got a new one. So sometimes a person just has to "bite the bullet" and do the deed sort of speak, and get a new one. LOL
Just another FYI

It's really bad off and on. I have always thought it was related to the government trying to make sure we weren't all enemies or something. I kind of assumed they try to put a spyware on anyone who uses homesteading forums and homesteading type sites. But, who knows?

What I'm seeing is googleads.com at the bottom left of the screen. Other websites on the same computer are lightning fast right before and right after, so it's not the internet being slow here.

Question: Are the owners of HT "making" anything off the site? If so, maybe they're selling ad space and that's our slow problem.
