Bummer! I haven't received mine yet but I do have some "new" jars, although I don't buy very many small mouth jars anymore. I will post once I receive mine and try them only on the "new" jars.

I have over 1500 jars & was happy to find something to use on them. I am not about to go buy some new jars just because they don't have their design right. They should work on all mason jars, not just new ones.

My small mouth jars are all OLD. Green glass primarily, and then one oddly shaped Ball jar that's obviously not less than 40 or so.

I only buy wide mouth now... have for years.

Looking forward to their wide mouth lids. Maybe this evening I'll have time to trim down one of the lids to fit an old narrow mouth jar.

I had to go on the kickstarter site and put my name/ address in again. I received the lids within a week of doing that.

As to not fitting well. They fit all my Kerr and Ball jars without leaking but I don't think I have any older than about 5 years. But they wouldn't even screw onto the pasta jars marked "Mason" that I've re-used with metal two-part lids for water-bath canning.

I made up some NIDO milk and it poured just great.
I am very happy with the lids.

I took a VERY sharp knife and trimmed off the lower edge just a sliver. Trim off enough so you can get your thumbnail between the bottom edge of the lid and that glass rim that is below the threads on the jar. Works perfectly now on my Kerr and Ball jars.

I may try that. I just don't like that I paid for something that should work & now I have to fix it so it does. They should have had this worked out before putting them on the market.

The issue is that jars vary. Not all canning jars have the exact same height from the shoulder to the top of the threads. I suspect they worked perfectly on the jars the folks had on hand when they designed this.

I'm not upset about it, and I was one of the funders of the project. Perfection is only available from God.

I use those white plastic lids that you can get at Wal Mart for my half gallon milk jars, too. They leak, and now I know why!!

Mine came last week. I was surprised how light/ thin they are, but they work so I guess that is all that counts. The other thing is the gaskets are loose and I can see myself losing them when I wash the lids. I hope they will have extras for sale later. But all-in-all, I'm happy with the purchase and glad I could participate in getting a new practical product on the market.

I was hoping to be able to take the gasket out for washing. I'll check mine.
