My 1/2 gallon jars take wide mouth lids not regular mouthed lids. Where can I find 1/2 gallon jars that are regular mouthed?

Got my lids last week for sponsoring her project and I love them.

Can't wait till the web site is up and also till she gets to the wide mouthed lids

My guess is that you only buy wide mouth jars for all your jars because 1/2 gallon jars are wide mouth only (actually I have two really old 1/2 gallon regular mouth but I don't think they make them anymore).

I have a few OLD larger jars from my MIL's house that take small lids. However, all the newer ones are large mouth.

I buy only large mouth quarts now, but again--- there are a bunch of small mouth in the cabinet.

I hardly use pints any more, but I have both sizes mouths.

I got a whole bunch of 1/2 gallon jars
with a regular size top. I guess they(and me)
are old! Really, I never saw a wide mouth 1/2
gallon jar. These "old" jars work on my "old"
glass biddy waterers.

I'm sure the person making them is working toward getting paypal up and going, however, I'm pretty sure they aren't on here

They took pre-orders to get money to start production. They are filling the kickstart preorders and are working on their website to order them after production now but it takes a little time to get all the bugs out when it's a very small business doing things. Hopefully they'll get it soon, I couldn't afford to order any back then so have to be patient now... <sigh>

I think she is updating her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MasonJarCap

It does take awhile to get things going with small businesses.

Wow, that's a great idea. I might order some of those for my Mom, for Mother's Day. She likes practical gifts that she'll actually use, so those would be great.

I just went to the fridge and got the container of parm cheese to try the lid on my mason jar . It works !!!!! This is great . I make kefir and this will enable me to just pour the finished kefir out of the shake side of the lid keeping the grains in the jar . Then I can pour more milk in the spoon side . Perfect !!! Thanks lilbitfarm for the heads up !!!!!

Well, I put some strawberry milk in a quart jar for my daughter to take home. When she poured some out it was leaking all around the whole lid. I am not happy with them at this point. I tried several different jars & it leaked on each one.

OK, I must admit I'm having this problem, too. I think the lid is too long, top to bottom. I'm going to get a sharp knife and trim one a bit.

I think it's an issue with the depth of the lids vs. the distance from that ridge on the jars below the threads to the top edge of the jar. It can't tighten enough for the gasket to seal.

At first, I thought it was just the old blue glass jars, which have shorter thread areas, but the other ones leak, too.

I've sent a message to the folks that made them, and I'll post when I get a reply.

There was a reply this morning!

Thank you for your feedback. We are finding that the older jars have a huge variance in shoulder height and some may not seal well. We have not found an issue with new jars when the caps are tightened down well. Not all jars have been tested and you may have a new one that, to your point, may have a shorter shoulder than others.
Please let me know what kind of jar you have. Understanding the issues are important to us so we can make improvements where possible and also to incorporate into the new design.

Again, I appreciate your willingness to work with us to provide the best product we can.
