Just got my 2 lids today. They are just as described and seem like they will work well. There is a Facebook page for them:
https://www.facebook.com/MasonJarCap

They do plan to make wide mouth lids within the year. Am looking forward to those, since I use widemouth jars for my milk.

I didn't see a link on the facebook page to order the lids or what the price is.

OH OH! I hope mine come tomorrow!

If you look at the facebook page, it says she's hoping to get her regular website up by next weekend.

A clever design but I don't see the need to spend the money. We don't drink from jars and to pour from the jar is not a problem. I store salad dressing and maple syrup in narrow neck jars. I purchased some plastic one piece lids for mason jars and although they fit well they do not seal as well as just the normal canning lid and ring - and I don't mean for canning just sealing for storage.

I got my order the other day. They're great! Seal well (better than the white plastic lids) and easy to use. I make iced tea and pour it into pint jars for grab-n-go and these lids are making it MUCH easier to drink them in the car.

With grandchildren in the house, it will be very useful. I'm glad some people are so talented that they can pour from Mason jars without the liquid sloshing and then dribbling down the side. HOWEVER, I like little doodads that make my life easier, so I supported the project. I'll probably buy a few more if I like them, too.

I just found this.
I will anxiously await the opening of the web site.
I will then bookmark it and be watching for the wide mouth ones.

If these are going to be used for food storage and drinking - especially for children - I would make sure they are BPA free plastic. If the production is trying to keep costs low (and since the item is not specifically considered a children's item) then there will be no requirement for the more expensive BPA free plastic.

From the kickstarter page:
Quote:
It's a plastic screw cap that fits standard mason jars. The design was inspired by the classic American zinc cap, but enhanced with the practicality of BPA-free recyclable plastic. With reCap, you can now easily reuse your mason jars for drinking or mixing dressing.
Good to know.

That would make milk pouring a lot easier though!

Wow, what an awesome idea! I just "liked" her Facebook page. I am really hoping the ones that fit the 1/2 gallon are available very soon, I can't tell you how much they would make my life easier for milk storage!

Also I saw on her Facebook that these are "made in America". Yeah! I'm going to buy some once she has the website up for my quart jars.

1/2 gallon mason jars use the same lid as pint and quarts.
