No snooping, it would be rude. I would however look for TP if I needed it, but would use a tissue if I could before opening doors or drawers. Never thought to look behind a shower curtain for someone lurking there. Yikes.

There was the time my toddler opened the bathroom door on Grandma and I was the lucky one who got to see her sitting on the pot. Had to shut the door for her. She didn't look like she'd been snooping. Tee hee.

I have an inexpensive toilet paper holder that holds three rolls standing beside the toilet. I keep it stocked so there is no need to go looking.

The truth is, that if someone wants to snoop, they are going to snoop. Shame on them! Just don't give them anything interesting to find.

I had not thought much about medicines in the bathroom. The boys keep allergy meds and advil in there. I will have to remember to think about whether or not to remove those at times.

We have a nice Out House between the house and the barn and when lots of people are here or people out hiking, they just use the Out House. Last night though was an inside-eat-dinner night and it was cold outside too!

Thanks everyone.

I looked in a medicine cabinet once when I was much younger. It had never occurred to me to even do so, 'til I heard the stories of people doing it.

So because I was curious as to what everyone else found intriguing about a medicine cabinet, I peeked into one once.

...I don't know why people do it. It was... just a medicine cabinet.

But I also don't keep medicines in the medicine cabinet either. When the kids were little I got into the habit of locking medications up. Then, years later, when I sold insurance, we would visit clients in their homes. I heard a rumor that one of my co-workers was supporting his drug habit by asking clients if he could use their bathroom, and stealing any narcotics he found. I was horrified, but had no way of knowing if it was true. So medications are kept out of the bedroom. I have put keyed locks on the master bedroom at both the house in the burbs and the ranch. It may seem tacky, but if we are expecting company that we don't really know well, I lock my purse and other valuables in the bedroom.
I don't think it sounds tacky. I've done the same thing in the past when we've had people I don't know very well over, or workmen coming. Your guests won't even know about it unless they try to go somewhere they aren't supposed to be.

There's not much to see in my bathroom, but I will continue to clean the shower. Mostly because I can't stand a dirty shower and it is easy to keep it up if it is done often.

It seriously never occurred to me that anyone would look into the shower, or open the medicine cabinet. Seen one bottle of aspirin, seen 'em all. I can't imagine what the interest would be.

However, people I don't know aren't allowed inside the house. I've had my experience with people from Craigslist stealing from me, so no more strangers get to come to the house.

[[[[........our boys' hall bathroom because I did not have time to clean inside the shower.....]]]]]]

How old are these boys? If they are over the age of 8, they should be cleaning the shower themselves, not having their mother follow around behind them and cleaning. Get 'em trained better before you inflict them on some poor unsuspecting future wife who is going to get treated like free slave labor.

Good point but in this case I was the one who had been using the boys' shower. The shower in my bathroom is broken so my husband and I have been using the hall shower for a year! The boys have been using the outside shower till the weather got colder. Good point since I did not want to clean it anyway.

I think I will take a look at what is in all the closet shelves and medicine cabinet since I had not thought about people looking around for medicines.

Not in a mean way and not to specifically "find" anything - just normal curious snooping.

For And, would you state if you are male or female? My husband and I have a different opinion on this topic and since friends are coming to visit tonight, I am curious as to the responses.

Thank you -

PS Yes, after a few replies here then I will say what my response is and what my husband's is.
Get thee to GC!!!!

You know, until this thread, I have never had any desire to snoop in anyone's cabinets or whatever. But, today when I was at my best friend's, I just had to wander around her kitchen checking out her Tupperware, her spices...I caught myself as I started to open her pantry....

Had to tell her about this thread! She was standing there with me when I did it, and I didn't go peeking until she'd already opened the cabinets and saw some of what was in them, but still...

Wow, apparently I was quite the snoopy little kid, because I remember always taking a peek in the cabinets. I wasn't looking for anything, nor did I tell anyone, I just wanted to see. Maybe I read Harriet the Spy too many times.

We've never kept medication in the bathroom (except for the odd bottle of NyQuill). Now I'm glad we don't!

Kids being curious is a different thing entirely. It's their job.
