In that vein, consider a composite degree.

Agri-business, for example, opens up a lot of opportunities in both ag. and business.

I would advise anyone to start out in a community college at least to get your pre reqs done. Regular college, out of state, and private school prices have sky-rocketed, and imo, it is a waste of cash to start out paying a premium when you don't have to.

Also be aware that many degrees that were good 15 years ago are now trash; many manufacturing degrees, etc come to mind since most of those jobs have moved overseas...There are some jobs still there, but getting one means you may have to apply at dozens of places and move out of state to work in a large city, then keep your fingers crossed the company doesn't fold and move overseas...

Without question you should go. I would consider switching into Environmental Engineering. It will give you more scope, you'll be in demand and you'll make more money. The Engineering skill sets will be invaluable for homesteading.

My daughter is attending Hocking College (in Ohio) for Wildlife Management. It's a 2 year program and a very good one:

And way cheaper than a 4 yr school.
