used the fiasco plan and scrap wood. if I were to do it again, I'd rather have one with a grid/metal floor so it is cleaner. but that rubber mat thing, that's great, and I have those, I'll add those now. mine is heavy tho., and if a doe doesn't want to get milked, she can shimmy to the side and make my job a bit harder. since mine is near the barn wall, I put a bucket there and now she can't do that.

Both of my stands have an added rail on the left side, for those goats that want to dance sideways! I milk from the right, so it works for me.

Here's my cow stanchion. My dh built it over 20 years ago. The metal pipe frame work is absolutely solid. We have replaced the heavy plywood floor once. It is coated with that roll on bed liner. I can easily scrub and hose it off and it's gives the cow good non-slippery footing. It's easy to pick up and move with the skidsteer when necessary. The rail along the side keeps a cow from stepping over on me, but is not in my way for milking. The little screen door at the front keeps the cow's ration in the manger (sometimes they get excited and toss part of it out, then spend the rest of the time trying to reach for it, a real nuisance). The floor is elevated about 6", I hand milk and this really helps my back. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

I was using pieces of stall mat on my stands, but chucked them because they get slippery from wet feet or if you spill milk on them... I think I will spray a piece of plywood with bed liner (we have some left over) and see if that doesn't give a better "grip" in the wet seasons, when they jump up there with wet/muddy feet. Thanks Chalk Creek!
