A little note: Eating more often is even better for you than eating just the standard 3 meals a day.

Meat? Maybe. I am peckish with less protein. An egg for breakfast instead of cereal keeps me longer and lets me eat less at lunch. Doubt I can eat enough beans to get all my protein that way- too much fiber and gas- but cottage cheese or yoghurt with canned fruit is a common lunch for me and keeps me as full as a coldcut sandwich. Nuts / seeds are also a good snack or addition to lunch.

Ok just me but I was a Heavy Meat Eater still enjoy Meat but it was causing problems.I've cut way back on Lean Red Meat and try to eat alot of Fish and Poultry.Lots of Whole Grains,Fresh Vegetables and Fruits.

Some Meat with the Protein will give you a Natural Pep that last.

Just because you don't have meat does not mean that you can not make a meal that is fulfilling, nutritious and well balanced. Instead of meat, introduce other proteins, like cheese and beans. Don't forget yogurt milk and eggs, if you are not doing a vegan meal. Remember to add whole grains like quinoa, corn, whole wheat, buckwheat, brown rice, legumes like pinto, lentils, black beans, and garbanzos.

I would rather do that than use a fake product like a vegeburger.

I am never hungry when eating a well balanced vegetarian meal.

My DD was 26 when she decided to try the ova-lacto diet hoping it would help with her obesity. She still helped slaughter chickens, etc, so no ecological statement from her. It didn't help the weight, and left lasting damage. Like I said, I'm not against it, just want people to realize that just because it works for some, it doesn't work for all.

And, yes, OP, if I have a salad, I'm looking for something, _anything_ within half an hour. The odd thing is, I can eat some meats and be hungry within a short time, while on other days the same meal will keep me feeling full for hours... Has to be what activity I'm doing, but I can never predict what's going to work. YMMV

IIRC, Red Meat and other meats figured differently into diet based on blood type.

I can tell you that O POS desires red meet weekly. A POS discourages red meat.

I don't feel I have eaten unless there is some kind of meat served with the meal. Its like going to a movie and not getting Popcorn to eat.

Can you go over this again. You're saying the blood type O positive is hunter/gatherer and desires red meat but what is POS?

scares me when I see people with young children buying fat free and vegan food .
young children need fat to make brain cells , they need meat protein and yes they need veggies . Humans are omnivourse not herbavours .
I tend to wonder why no one has done a study linking low fat diets to autism or learning disabilities .
It really gets me when the same folks that complain about processed foods will use soy milk and soy products than real milk or real meat

I was thinking fat, also. Though protein is extremely important, so is fat!

Non Lacto-Ovo vegetarians miss Vitamin B12. It can cause nerve damage, mania, and a lack of energy. It's also cheaply available in a sub-lingual tablet, at all grocery stores that carry vitamins and supplements. Chow down! ldc

Spot on!!
Parents don't realize the importance of fat and complete proteins in the growth of children's brains.

Do not radically change a diet without first consulting a doctor. You may have to take supplements to get the necessary vitamins and minerals your body needs.

I have had two excellent examples within the past six months. Passed out at regional hospital X-Ray unit. Drs. said my kidneys were shut down due to dehydration so I stayed three days hooked up to an IV. Obviously said I wasn't drinking enough fluids. So I would fill a gallon jug of water, put in refrigerator and either drink it straight or as Kool Ade each day. Ended back in the hospital for four more days for same reason. What they didn't tell me the first time is spring water and/or spring water Kool Ade doesn't provide the electrolytes your body needs.

I could go vegan, but I would crave a medium-rate steak every couple of weeks. I swear, few things taste better than nicely grilled beef fat.

I have to laugh when I hear someone say they NEVER eat Soy, these days Soy is being added to just about everything we buy from the grocery store.

I'm vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and my guys are 'semi' veg (every other day), they never complain about being hungry later...maybe because I include fats like Olive oil and butter along with good sources of protein (beans, grains, seeds (Quinoa), eggs, dairy).

Dinner tonight is Vegetarian Chili Stuffed Zucchini with Corn Bread on the side.
Beans, Barley, Tomato, Onion, Garlic, Spices, Cheese, and Zucchini...and Corn Bread

No desire to become a vegetarian here.

I dated a vegetarian in college and he was always unhealthy, depressed, and pasty looking with no muscle tone. I also developed depression and panic attacks at that time and I think living with a vegetarian and only cooking meals with no meat threw my system out of whack with deficiencies.

Nothing against vegetarians; I just think the diet doesn't work for everyone, and it takes more work to keep it balanced when you intentionally cut out all animal proteins from your diet.

Many vegetarians and also meat eaters do not eat a balanced diet. Both can become deficient in what our body needs.
