What are you looking to do in Canada? Camp, sight see, etc. It depends on how much money you want to spend. I live beside Algonquin Park. Great camoing are, lots of wildlife. Manatoulin Island is nice. But you should know don't visit in October to November. Deer season is wild there. The deer out number people 4 to 1. Hunting season sounds like WWII. I would be afraid of stray bullets. East coast is nice. West coast is nice and expensive. Praries are flat, makes for a long long drive. Ontario and Quebec are nice. If you are going to a city I prefer Ottawa to Toronto. The only thing I know of that is worth seeing in Toronto is a Jays game. Its always nice to see them beet one of the American teams.

How much driving do you want to do? If you cross over at Windsor, it's about 4.5 hrs to Niagara Falls.

Do you like historical reenactment places? There's Fanshawe Pioneer Village outside London and Doon Heritage Crossroads in Kitchener. There are others, but those are the two I've been to. How old are your kids? There's a children's museum in Waterloo. If you're into amusement parks, Canada's Wonderland in Toronto is pretty big. If you want to see animals up close and personal, African Lion Safari is a nice place to visit.

I know.......not very adventoursome, but since my husband has never been to a "foriegn" country (please quit laughing) this really is going to be a stretch for him.

Anyone have opinions on good "color" times to head that way.

We are thinking the first week of Oct??

Thank you
First off, once you get to the border, you need to spell it "colour".

later September, early October you will get some good colour in the leaves. It has been quite a few years, but I think there are a lot of coniferous trees, so those will obviously still be green.

If you are coming in early October, just realize that the temps can get chilly at night, so bring lots of blankets or a camper with a heater.

You do have passports?

If you are camping, you might get a fishing license. When we were on the Trent Severn, in some lakes the fish were biting at our toothpaste.

Rob30......Will be camping, like to sight see, but generally not the touristy type of things, more natural type of sights for us. We like to do things on the cheap. Thanks for the tip regarding the WWII hunting season.

Elffriend.......I mentioned Niagra, DH has never been, so we are def considering this. No children and niehter of us is into amusement parks.

Paw........thanks for the spelling tip!!

Harry.........We have the "enhanced" DL......takes the place of a passport for travel to Canada, Mexico, Caribbean....one other place, but can't think where at the moment
