Same problem here, more pronounced when I am riding my motorcycle on long rides. My way to solve the problem was just the opposite of the boxer suggestion. I wear compression shorts and make sure they are nice and snug around the franks and beans. They are moisture wicking and help to keep the moisture in check. I also liberally apply monkey butt powder in the morning and have an extra bottle in my truck in case I need a reapplication.
The compression shorts are kind of like the underarmour stuff mentioned previously. Since they pull the moisture away from the body, it helps me from getting all itchy.

Living here in South Louisiana with 100% humidity at least 6 months of the year (!), this is a common problem for both genders! Ammens and Gold Bond worked for me. Just be careful (to the OP!) how bad and raw your skin is; if it is indeed raw, the next step is "jungle rot" and that takes an RX. All the suggestions above are good, b/c each person responds to different cures! Best wishes for a speedy dicovery of your cure! ldc

Agmantoo I got your message and thank you for your input. I believe you hit it on the head.
I'm going commando for a while along with some other suggestions.
Everyone here is great, I never thought there would be so many that lived with the same problem.

It's with the athlete's foot medications. You can get a generic brand, as long as the active ingredient says Lamisil or terbinafine.
After your shower, make sure you're good and dry and then spray the problem areas with the Lamisil. No other powders, creams or antiperspirants. Make sure you shake it up good first. It will feel very cool and dry and will clear up the problem if used daily for a little while. Just make sure you don't touch the medicated areas and then touch your eyes or put your fingers in your mouth. If you do touch the area, wash your hands immediately afterwards.
This is recommended by many physicians and pharmacists. I'm a medical transcriptionist (MT) and have heard them prescribe this many times. If you don't want to do this, stay away from baby powder, there's something in it that actually aggravates the problem, not make it better. Use a medicated powder as someone else mentioned, but it still won't work as well as the Lamisil.
Eating yogurt, drinking kefir or taking a probiotic capsule would help also, as these will help balance out your system. Good luck!
P.S. After 27 years as an MT no question is embarrassing, and this is actually a rather common problem for men and women.

Yeast was my first thought too! Our DD's got yeast diaper rashes as babies.

Thanks for the link. I followed some advise today and used the hair drier after my shower to get good and dry. Followed with some anti fungal, as I already had some around the house, and went commando to church.
What a difference.
I'll say it again, great people and great advise on this site.

Uncle, in addition to trying a few of the topical remedies suggested here, might I suggest that, if this is a year round thing that you've suffered from for some time, that you might look at your diet?
Do you eat a lot of sugar (candy, soda, etc.) or refined foods? Do you eat a lot of prepackaged or "ready" meals (tv dinners, etc.) or "white" bread products? All of these have been known to cause skin conditions.
I think it's likely that you've got some sort of thrush or candida infection, but in addition to topical, you might want to consider changing your diet to consist mostly of fresh fruits and veg, a great deal of high-quality protein, and only whole grain, low-processed carbohydrates for a while. You'd be amazed at what a change you might find.

If it's a yeast thing sugar, simple carbs and starches are a real enemy. Like Tracy said change of diet might really help.

BIL suffered from what we call "heat rash" here year round and a trip to the DR confirmed a food allergy that as long as he avoids that particular food he is good.
For my own self when I go out and get sweaty I come inside every so often and I take a quick rinse in the shower and dry really well then clean dry clothes and back out I go. Might do this 3 - 4 times on a really hot and humid day and that really helps me to prevent the problem to start with.
Hope that you can figure out what the best course for yourself is very quickly!

My sister had a similar problem years ago. Mom had her start carrying lumps of alum in her pockets and it really helped!

My hubby had similar problems. The dr. recommended the spray medication for athlete's feet. He also recommended keeping it very dry, after you shower or bath use a hair dryer to make sure it is completely dry and then spray with the lotrimin or whatever you have for athlete's feet or maybe it was opposite and spray then dry, but you get the idea.

Okay, I didnt read all the responses, so forgive me if I am repeating anothers post. What you are having problems with is a fungus. Dont worry about which one. Fungus love a warm moist environment, so you need to deprive them of that.
Over the counter antifungal medications are a great start. Shop in the ladies section for creams that fight vaginal yeast infections-ask your pharmacist if you need help.
After your shower, use a blowdryer to the affected areas (not on hot, please) and get them as dry as possible. If you want to do a vinegar rinse before this step, it would be helpful as well.
If your house is as private as mine, have a little "nature time" in the sunshine if possible. If that's not a possibility, you can use a goose neck type lamp for some light therapy.
Sleeping in the buff is good
If all else fails, call your doc and ask for a diflucan.
Lotsa luck,
anette

Do you guys have any advice on what to do about excessive sweating? I don't have a problem with rash but do sweat alot. The worst and first place other than underarms is between my legs. It's VERY embarrasing.

Fordy, I think that would be almost more embarrassing!
Mesh underwear? I'll have to look into that. I have tried bathing both in the morning and in the evening.
Mineral salt stone? It's worth a try.
Thanks for the advice folks.

I'm surprised No one has suggested Ben Gay, after about two minutes the rash won't be bothering you at all.
Seriously though, I had this problem pretty severely for a couple of years. I ended up with pneumonia and on a ventilator, I developed a rash. The Doctors and nurses tried a variety of things to no avail. My wife stepped in and told them that I use Gold Bond at home. They tried it, and the rash was almost gone before I woke up from my induced light coma.
Gold Bond Gold Bond GOLD BOND.

My hubby SWEARS by "Blue Star" ointment for that kind of rash. Should be under $6 for a little white jar with blue writing on it. Sold in most drugstores/Walmart/etc...
WARNING... it can hurt if the rash is open but the pain goes away. Takes care of a ton of various skin issues. And does it pretty quickly.
