You didn't chicken out!
You chose the best plan for you at the time. No shame in that. It's smart thinkin', that's all.
Now you need to post pics of the new place. I LOVE wrap around porches- I have one too!

Oh, I like that house! Hopefully you got a master bedroom downstairs like I did so only the kids or guests have to climb stairs.

The master is right behind the covered porch where it turns. It is 15 by 19 and has a master bath with a jetted tub for two and a walk in shower. the kitchen is quite large for a house with only 2100 sq feet. We are leaving a house with 3200 adn an enormous kitchen adn master bedroom. This is a very nice compormise for the money.
I have built 2 homes. this is the first home I am buying not built by me. I am sort of excited not to have a ton of projects. so i can concentrate on improving fencing on my leased land.
I did crawl in the crawl space. It was very neat and clean. no musty smell or mold. All the wood looked in great shape adn no evidence of water or other issues. I will be having the subflolr sealed with 6 inches of open cell foam for warmer floors in teh winter and to keep more cool in the house. It also only has 6 to 8 inches of cellulose in th eattic. It probably had 12 but settled. ill add 2 feet, that will make a very nice difference at a low cost. Other than those two things and a 20 by 20 shed, it is turn key. I can build a 20 by 20 in a month on weekends. I built a 12 by 20 out of scrap last year in less time. but not using scrap will make it faster.
I did just find a 40 acre parcel with well and septic and a slab foundation and a 3 sided shed for $132,000. I have spent all my money, but it gives me something to save for. that property is only about 5 minutes from the house I just bought. So maybe in a few years something similar will be available.
