You folks certainly amuse me. While each browser is different and each version of each browser is different I personally find little problem adapting to each one.

Now before you carry your moaning and groaning toooooo far I just want to say-----some of you may want to keep what you have for awhile as-----Firefox version 6 beta is already out and a matter of fact is what I'm currently using. Works for me flawlessly as have several prior versions.

If you don't like Firefox you might give Google Chrome a try, but do be aware it watches your browsing like a hawk and tends to remember everywhere you have been. Because of that I only use it for 1 or 2 web sites.

So nice that we amuse you.

I loved Firefox until it self destructed. I'm not a stupid newbie on the Internet, and I did research and try out fixes for a week before giving up. Even the geek gave up.

In version 6 did they move the home button, refresh button, and stop button back over to the left side of the screen next to the forward and back buttons as they were in previous versions of 5? They were logically grouped in pre-version 5 and now they have split them up and I find it counterproductive.

I like the thinkpads, very robust, user serviceable, lots of parts available. The desktop in my shop is giving up the ghost so I may just get an old thinkpad to replace it.

I am running FF 4 at the moment, which I also ran on Beta as well. There was (miraculously) nothing wrong with the Beta version except that the add-ons did not work! I have mine cumstomized with a grass background, Zotera on the bottom along with Download Helper at the top with AniWeather, AddThis, ReadItLater, and Fire.fm, Web Of Trust and Avast site raters and Download Manager at the bottom. Maybe I'll try FF5 next.

Ah, now I'm beginning to understand everyone's frustration.

Sorry, but I have always used the customize feature and have always kept the icons at the left with all versions. I use only the Menu bar and the Navigation bar.

To customize go to "View", "Toolbars", and "Customize". From there you simply drag and drop the icons you want to add or remove. I believe there is also a setting to select either large or small icons.

I use only the forward and back arrow icons, the refresh icon, the print icon, and the home icon.

View, Toolbars, Customize doesn't allow you to move them from their default location to a more logical location.

I updated and hated it so I changed back FireFox 3. It runs great. I also found out I could not send a link from File and it was my HP printer. I now have a Canon and it is great too. SRM

All I can say is that I have always had mine on the left with all versions.

I wrestled with it some more.

Right click on an open space between the buttons. Click on Customize. Ignore the window that comes open, but you can now drag and drop the buttons where you want. Then close the Customize window.

I'm glad you kept after it and were able to move them around. Strange, but when I right click between the buttons I get the same menu as when I used View and Toolbars. Computers are indeed strange critters.

Hopefully others will now see this and move theirs around as desired.

I've had no problems at all with 5.0 - I was able to set up just the same as I had it in version 3.xx There are a couple of new things that will take some getting used to but then most new things do take a bit to orient to - nothing major.

Anybody got a solution for a mouse that works only half the time.
did the FF 5.0 thing really screwed things up. Left mouse button only worked half the time for select. Carried over into Thunderbird. dumped the whole thing and went back, reloaded mouse drivers and FF3.6 works most of th e time but Thunderbird has turned into a pain. found out if you open the task manager and click on it hen click on your selection it will work. don't know haw that figures. No more FF updates for me.

Wouldn't the mouse be driven by the drivers for the computer operating system rather than have anything to do with which browser one uses?

Whatever works for you is what you need to do though.

That sounds like more a problem with your mouse or mouse drivers rather than FF.

Reloaded the drivers off the net. It only happens in FF and Thunderbird

I use Firefox on a Mac. It started going so slowly I had to check around. The problem was the "proxy." I went to "how Firefox connects to the internet" and clicked "Settings." Then I chose the "No Proxy" option. Fixed. Back up to normal speed.
