We have dairy animals so only buy 2nd and 3rd cuttings. I had heard that the first cutting was being done now? We were on vacation last week and haven't had a chance to look in the latest capital press yet for alfalfa ads.

First cutting in Central Oregon is just being brought in.

I've got hay fields around me and nobody is cutting yet. Prineville is warmer and has a longer growing season, so they start cutting before my area. Christmas Valley is probably cutting, but most of that is contracted to dairies.

If there are farmers with barns full of last year's hay, they aren't telling anybody, because there have been horse owners on Craigslist the past 2 months begging to have someone tell them where to get hay.
