You forgot the repeat as neccesary part

Seriously packing a sore tooth with whiskey soaked cotton ball really does help toothaches and it don't make you tipsy.

Rinsing with whiskey, (any brand) will help, especially when you hold it on the tooth. Don't have to swallow.

I had a tooth ache that started at the begining of a long holiday weekend. Anbusol and/or clove oil kept the pain down to where I could handle it while I was awake. In order to sleep I had a vicadine just before bed. Good stuff man. Went to the dentist on tuesday and had a root canal.

I had a guy that I needed to work for one day before a rain came he had a bad toothache it even swelled his face. I went to a tree called a toothache tree and got some of the inner bark and gave it to him and asked him to chew it. It numbed his hole mouth and about 4 PM he came to me asked for more. He couldn't asy enough about it. The tree is Zanthoxylum elava-herculis L. also called Hercules-Club,Prickly Ash,toothache tree,Tear Blanket, Sting Tongue.
You can find it in the Trees of Arkansas by Dwight M. Moore and is sold by the Arkansas Forestry Commission in Little Rock. Phone Number is 501-296-1940

Ginger helps. Fresh ginger is best. Just skin and chop up the ginger and wedge it right next to the tooth that's hurting you. Ginger has antimicrobial properties and a numbing effect so it helps with the pain and gets the bugs out. If the infection is deep in there though, only a root canal or tooth pull will make the pain go away for good.

Good luck with your tooth. I am sorry it's hurting you

ETA: Old Vet's advice about Prickly Ash (toothache tree) is something I've heard before too but never tried. My husband has though and he swears by it. Also, I wanted to say that they do have wintergreen in Ohio. We had it all over our woods when I lived in NE Ohio.

If you were closer You could make free with a bunch of Toothache trees on my wooded tract in middle East Texas. It's so effective, I've wondered what would get numb if a bunch of the bark was dumped in noisy neighbors hot tub. Never mind...Glen

If you look at the real name of the tree you will find out that it will numb just about anything it touches as long as it is mixed with water like chewing. Zanthoxylum is used to numb most anything expectantly in the mouth.

I can see why it works. Vanilla is vodka that vanilla beans have soaked in. http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how...nilla_extract/

Our Mom would make us put an aspirin on the tooth and bite down on it until it dissolved. Always seemed to work.

Ditto on Oregano Oil and Clove Oil. Helped out a lot when I had to wait a week for the dentist to get around to pulling out my wisdom teeth that were killing me.

Oil of Oregano is caustic, and must be diluted though. The olive oil was a great idea. Just don't use the oregano oil straight from the bottle, especially essential oil of oregano. It will burn your gums or skin if it is a good grade of essential oil.
