I was bit by one picking green beans a few years back. Hurt like the dickens and my hand went numb for a little bit, but other than that nothing happened.

We had Black Widows aplenty in Vegas but so much more really dangerous and fearsome critters live there and enter houses that we didn't pay them much attention either, other than keeping them out of the house where my boys slept. Ever been chased by a Vinagaroon or an 8" mad Centipede? They can draw blood!

I did pick up this tip from a professional house cleaner in Vegas. Seems spiders of all sorts are quite susceptible to Alcohol...now don't get all happy and think you can spit whiskey at them ...LOL... Just the medicinal type. She mixed it up half and half in water and always had a spray bottle ready to zap the suckers with in the houses of the entertainers.

I was curious about this so when we moved to Oregon(no B. Widows here where I am), I thought I'd try it out. Used this solution on the resident Daddy-long-legs(although they are not really spiders at all)and you know, it worked! Sprayed my duster with the alcohol solution and dusted. They left and none came back to take their place for a few weeks. Hmmmmm.

I don't think spiders are a cause for excitement at all but I do hate scorpions! How could something so ugly be so successful! ACK!

I use a bit dishsoap in water and a spray bottle. So far it's killed about anything I've sprayed. Drops wasps pretty fast. A bit of alcahol makes it better but not neccisary.

Be careful when you use it, but a blow torch works great! It melts the web quick so the spider has nowhere to run, and they fold up kinda neat looking when they are baked.
