Agree (+++), nothing beats a stirrup hoe. It's like 'sweeping' your garden once a day with a hoe.

I used a winged weeder for many years, but the stirrup hoe beats it hands down. With winged weeder, I seemed to get too close to my plants and usually cut them down. I seem to have better control with the stirrup hoe.

My winged weeder was my #1 until I got the stirrup hoe

I use a wheel "cultivator" which is very similar to a wheel hoe as far as practical use. Love that rascal too. I can weed the garden in a tenth the time it would take with a regular hoe.

My hori-hori is my absolute favorite. I can't resist prying with my tools and the little spades just don't hold up, but I can't seem to break this. Second is a small triangle hoe that belonged to DH's father. It's got a rickety old handle that's held on by one bent nail, but it's ok because it just slides through the weeds like they're butter.

My broadfork.

I don't own a tiller, and the soil here is pretty clay-y and hard to break up for planting.
I also think it's pretty handy for levering potato plants loose in the fall.

My pitch fork, works great for covering the weeds with mulch, and my soil is getting to the point were I can turn it with the fork as well (without destroying it)!
