The issue is not that the new meter is giving a false reading, the issue is that some people were lucky enough be undercharged for years, even decades. It can be awfully tough to get some people to believe that, however.
This happened with my brother, for years he bragged on how "good" his family was with their electricity usage. Every time I visited the A.C. was set at 70 and running full blast.
When the new meter was installed, his bills went up tremendously. Now the AC is at 82 and ceiling fans are in every room. Now he knows what reality really is.

My bill not only was more consistent but in some months actually went down with those electronic meters that send info back to the power company.
I see at night a light that blinks on and off, I am sure that when the light is on it is sending info back to the power co.
I love that now I don;t have to make sure I clear the path to the meter in the winter time. LOL
Been on now for many years and I can only say good things about those kind of setups.

I would invite the new meter here. We get an actual meter reading every other month, and the months that are estimated are usually low so the next month they sock it to us.

Nothing but good things to say about those. Have them for both electric and water.

When we got them I got a 400 dollar power bill for the same kwh. My wifes grandmother who had mostly gas appliances and lived in one end of her trailer had 600 dollar bill. I raised holy heck with mine and got it cut back to a normal rate. they paid theres for months.
