We live in an all electric house. The much anticipated act of my two children leaving for college, after Christmas break, drops my winter bills by roughly 40%. :happy0035:

We built (still not done with it, but living in it) new house, and just spent the first winter in it. We bought a used elec. furnace to get us by with as we were/going to heat with wood. This past winter we didn't have the outdoor wood furnace in, we just used our fireplace...and the elec furnace...and our light bill avg $400-$500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We about crapped!!! NEVER, in our wildest dreams did we ever have a light bill like that the whole time we lived in Colorado, much less in Mo. Mind you its not an efficient elec. furnace, but...dang! Needless to say its going out and getting sold. There will be an outdoor wood furnace (forced air) installed before winter, and a propane wall heater put in for back up.

SW elec is expensive, and according to their little paper we get every month is going to get worse...a lot worse.

Just a heads up as to what you maybe up against!
Well yes its SW Electric,we've been with them for years and with A/C,Electric Cook Stove,Hot Water Heater, two Freezers,Refridgerator,Well and whatever our Electric runs $100 a month on two Places

We are moving between Pomme de Terre and Truman Lakes.

$50 a month pretty much year round. My wife bought the house and had to rip off the dry wall since the house didn't have insulation then put up new dry wall then she replaced all the windows with Pella double paned windows with shades built in. Man! Electric bill dropped to what it's now today. Windows were expensive but worth it.
