I'm sorry for your loss. Like others have said, though, probably it was best (for him) to go so quickly without suffering.

So sorry. The untimely deaths always seem harder to me than when the animal is old and it's expected.

OMG I'm so sorry, closest I can remember to something like this was when I was mowing my lawn and my dog got hit by a car, she was probably chasing a rabbit or squirrel and with the mower going didn't hear the car??

It is so hard, they are family..we love them and gosh we miss them ..lost a kitty a few years back too, I still miss them both

I'm so sorry.
We had a dog-- Meka-- who suddenly died one afternoon after running. Her heart just gave out. She was a wonderful dog, and it was unexpected even though we knew she had been in heart failure for a while. It's terrible because it is so unexpected, but at least they didn't suffer a long time. And they were happy right up to the end.
I'm sorry about your dog.

I'm so sorry. What a horrible shock. We've lost several pets over the last 46 years, most to old age thank goodness, but it's still hard. Treasure the memories.

What a blessing that you and Otis had five years together! I am sorry for the shock of losing him so suddenly. I know you will miss him....but I believe in a Heaven where we are reunited with loved ones.

I'm sorry about you losing Otis. I had to put down 2 of my own dogs last year and even though I knew they were gone I caught myself looking for them. You know, holding the door open for them to go outside with me, automatically making room in my chair so they could sit with me, that sort of stuff. They had been with me for so long it had become a habit. Took a good couple of weeks for me to break. You will always miss Otis, but it does get easier to deal with.

I'm so sorry you lost your friend. It always hurts so much to lose a good dog, but the love and joy they bring us while they are here is worth it, I think.

Such a terrible thing to have happen, such a shock. I know too well what it feels like. Sometimes these things happen due to silent heart disease - I see it occasionally in my feline patients.

You are in my thoughts. Have a cup of tea and remember the good times.

Thank you everybody, your sympathy has helped me feel a little better today. Still, such a shock though. Hugs to you all!

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
awwww that is so touching!!

I'm so sorry. It's very hard losing a dog. I'm glad if he had to go it was very quick, but I'm sure sorry he had to go this soon.

He had a wonderful life with you, and was a lucky dog in that. I'm sure in time you'll feel like having another friend like him in your life, and I'll bet he would like knowing you had another loyal friend to be with you.
