Your stories are all so tragic and frightening. Be sure you're all staying well hydrated and use eyewash frequently. Your animals too, wash their eyes frequently. I just can't imagine what you're going through, know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

My friend is having coughing spells, and her oldest girl too, apparently from breathing the smoke. Her other kids seem to be ok.

Her hubby is still in a hotel, as of this evening the authorities are still not letting anyone in. The few people that somehow managed to stay behind are running out of food and supplies because the grocery store there at the lake has been closed for almost a week, and if anyone leaves to shop in Graham or Mineral Wells, they won't be allowed back in. They are hoping to be able to let people back in sometime in the next day or two, or at least that's what she was told today.

We're going to go buy the kids and her a few clothes tomorrow. She only had time to grab a few things for each child and herself.

It is raining right now. I am thankful for every drop. I pray there is a nice slow rain over the fire zones too.

Gov. Perry was on the news asking for prayers for the fire fighters and rain for Texas. Good man with good hair. He asked the President a couple of weeks ago to declare Texas a disaster. Guess Obama's going to do that right after he looks in the gas prices.

Seems a disaster declaration should take precedence over about anything else.

It'll be interesting to see if you get federal aid or not. Oregon had a really devastating tornado. The governor asked for federal help and FEMA said "No."

So I suspect it depends upon how many voters you have and how critical their votes are whether you'll get aid or not.

FEMA dosent have permission to say NO or Yes...the President gives FEMA authority.

The governor ask the President...it's up to him to declare it an emergency.

And we all know how 'red' the state of Texas was at election time.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Obama purposely withholds FEMA help for Texas, as another way to stick his middle finger in everyone's faces. He's an expert at that.

Actually went out at midnight the other night, drove up to the road, where I have a 'view', to see if there was a local fire. Nope. But still figgered I'd best be sure.

Went and bought a gas fired water pump... one, to water the garden, two, just in case there's a wildfire, I can wet important stuff down. If there was a widespread conflagration, figger we'd all be on our own. I know one person I can depend on, when the worlds on fire... me. I could easily take my mini fire fighting rig to other places to, to help out.

Already using the pump every day to keep my garden alive.

Texican, does the gas fired water pump get the water from your well or do you have a tank? Where did you get it?

Yep, it's every man for himself.
