Put a dish with beer out with your tomato plants. The worms will be attracted to the beer, get drunk and drown.

I wasn't here in 2000 but I remember the dry times 3-4 summers ago with wild fires everywhere. Every time I got off the highway I would scan the horizon for smoke in the vicinity of my house.

I would hate to use up all the water on the garden & not have a shower!

Next season I will have rain barrels in place & the garden will be big & plentiful!

I will say we haven't had to mow our yard yet this year, at least that has been nice.
I'd rather be dirty than hungry.

We are under flood warnings here in the Shenandoah Valley. I sure wish I could send some of this moisture your way. I can't even get into my garden and haven't for a while.
On the flip side, you can't mow when it's wet

Divert the water from your washer to the garden. Put a five gallon bucket in the shower to catch some water. Put a dish pan in the sink to catch water. Water early or late. MULCH. run 2 rows of sprinklers on top of your house in case a fire gets close enough to send ashes, or get a metal roof. Fire is our biggest worry here, that's why I love my spring fed pond. Remember, it's always something.

They was giving a freeze warning for saturday morning but they have up'd the temperature to 39 degrees now. So maybe it wont be too bad. Suppose to be a high of 69 which isn't too cool. I just hope the fish are still biting Saturday morning as I am planning on taking my kids fishing.
