I love it being light later, but don't like it being dark in the AM!! I am such an outdoorsy gal the staying lighter later keeps me outside longer and I do more outside work and get to bed later, so I am TIRED all summer. So the 'summer of tiredness begins!!

It's not a trivial thing to me at all. If there was an organization to stop it I would join. Daylight savings is my number one pet peeve. There is no reason for it. I don't need daylight at 10pm...I do need daylight at 7am. It just starts naturally getting perfect where there is daylight early enough for me not to be doing chores in the dark before going to work. It's still light out at 6:30 and that is good and will continue to get longer. And now it's all screwed up because some idiot has to mess with it. It's hard on me, it's hard on my critters and it makes no sense. But everyone goes along with it. If anyone knows a way to get this stopped please tell me so I can complain loudly to the right people. I am very angry

I LOVE daylight saving and apart from the first couple of days, don't have any trouble adjusting backwards or forwards. Nor do the cows. The first couple of days they bring themselves to the cowshed and when I finally arrive they have a look on their face that clearly says "Where the hell have you been?" but then they settle down.
I still get amused at those that can't get their head around the fact that their is no "savings", it's just a transferral of time so that instead of sleeping in daylight, your up and using it.
For those of you that appreciate it, enjoy it and think of me.

Will do.
I'm another who loves the shift into Daylight Savings. (I hate when it ends, though). Due to the adjustment into the evening, there is more usable time in my day. I still get up at dawn, but there is more "day" available!
The one that gets me, though, is Time Zones. :P
The county we actually live in runs on Central time.
However, going south, we transfer back into Mountain. Going west, into Colorado, is also Mountain. North into Nebraska is Mountain as well.
East is still Central, but I rarely go east...
Needless to say, since my husband and I both work in Mountain, our kids school in Mountain, and most of our business is done in Mountain, our house runs on Mountain, regardless of where we happen to live. lol

I love it as it means so nice long summer nights of daylight, one can really get a lot done.
Sure it meant one hour less sleep last night big deal, its Sunday the day of rest anyways, so make up for it then.

I wish they'd do away with Standard time and leave us on DST year round.
Who cares if its light in the morning; I'm sleeping or getting ready for work.
But the extra hour of daylight after work gives me time to work outside.
Keep DST year round!!

If you get up at dawn then why would it matter what time dawn is? Changing the time does not lengthen the day.

They should figure out the time "zone" which for each USA Time zone MAXIMIZES the number of hours of sunlight available for work YEAR ROUND - when the most number of people are awake and that is what they should stick with. Its why I think that in the fall we should move the clocks forward another hour - not go back. It stands to reason that the more natural light there is the less electrical light that is needed. Some say that A/C costs go up, but here in the south the A/C is running purely on the thermostat (set back kind) and it comes on when needed and turns off when not and wouldn't change one bit regardless of the daylight hours.
I would prefer to live my life getting up with the sun and going to bed with it too, BUT society forces me into keeping societies time keeping schedule - doctors appointments, church, going out to dinner with friends (who have jobs), etc.

Keeping it year round was tried. And adding another hour would just make things worse.
The Huge Out dry came form parents as their young ones were waiting for the bus in Pure Blackness along side the roads.
So adding a hour would just make that even Worse.

No, but the work/school day is finished earlier in the daylight hours which leaves more daylight available later to get other things done.

I also think that the best part of more daylight in the am. is the cool.
I get twice as much work done in the cool morning hours than I do in the hot evenings.

Go to your State legislators and get a vote on it. There is no law saying a State Must do the DST thing.

Ummmm, yes really.
DH, for example, needs to be to work at 7AM and gets off at 5PM (or thereabouts).
From June 1-August 1, the sun is up in our area at about 5:30-5:45 on DST. About the time we always get up, actually.
Without, it would be 4:30-4:45. Wasted time for us.
It sets at about 8:15-8:00 on DST.
No DST and it would set at about 7:15-7:00.
There's a whole lot that can be done with that "extra" hour, not to mention the still-useful twilight beyond it.
