I got excited when I read this post and have been following it. Alas the price of gas is such that we don’t go out but once a week. And that is to the local IGA for supplies.

Hopefully in a few years I may be able to go to a few places to meet folks. And maybe have a get together here. I hope this isn’t the end of these types of things. But I wonder were we are going.

Dave

We would probably be able to host a get together for the Mountaineers in the forum at our new place later in the spring or summer. Anyone in WV interested? Let me know, we can get started planning something.

Not sure about the others, but I think it would be a fun thing to set up. We're usually around and available...where abouts in the NE are you? PM if you'd prefer.

I certainly hope so!! Last year you had a good excuse, with Lily in your belly.

This year, I hope to see you and Lily (and Tilly!) and, yes, Forerunner too and maybe whatever children you can spare from your place for a few days???

I've organized a few get togethers in Ohio and been to ones that others have organized. There's always been at least a few dozen people that have made it.

I'm going to through out a suggestion for a lunch get-together at Das Dutch Kitchen (near Kidron/Lehmans) for Mid-May.

travis91 I am lazy. But would be happy to do a place/garden tour of your place, and I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Cross Creek and Zant and KSALguy are within 50 miles of us so instead of a travel over night deal let's do an afternoon maybe potluck- Saturday best for me, later April better than now because I have houseguests now. And BTW KSALguy has bees so I'd really love to see his setup. Why not pm all of us a time/day- I'll bring a dessert or a bread, your choice (or with just 4 folks/families, both!)

Mertz. I Dont put positive attitudes on posts. I only tell truth.

I dont see why we cant have a get together here in Okieland. We have a bunch of homesteaders/farmers/gardeners here. Id bet round 2 doz at least. Course, we got to have somebody reputable to host it, and that leaves me out lol

When I went to the gatherings I went to, and ive been to 4, It was T H E N with the idea of meeting women for the purpose of finding mrs perfect, at least for me. I was disappointed when the get togethers were so small. But as to what I stated in my origional post, It was all true. I would always put off saying I would go to a get together for fear, I couldnt go. My word was my bond. If I said I was going, I went. I cant or wont speak for others, Just for me. Please dont saddle me with other peoples reasons for saying they would go but didnt.

Off topic, but: I went to the Hardy's Annual Countryside Reunion last July. Happened to be sitting near the fire pit and three people were discussing Countryside Magazine. One ne brought up the issue with three articles in it by me about visiting Croatia about ten years ago. Tried to say my last name, then I said "I believe the pronouncenation is "Schar-bock. They asked if I was him, and indeed it was.

I am going back to Croatia in September for a week. When I went before it was the eastern side of the country near the Hungarian border. This time I will be visiting on the Adriatic Sea.
