It would seem to me that either women back then were quite short, or they suffered a lot of lower back pain from leaning over.

I've seen photo's of a chair pulled up under the pulled out table top. Besides the name Hoosier, there are Seller's/Sellar's and Mc Dougall cabinets. I know there's a bottom piece of cabinet out in the FIL's family barn and another in MIL's childhood home sitting empty. What kills me is that an older friend has a Hoosier in perfect condition in her darling loghome kitchen, but it's only for looks- to display her cute cookie cutters and fluff. She hates to/ never ever cooks....whah!!!
