I've seen it and thought it was hilarious. They seem to be getting a crash course on country life. Palpating a cow???I couldn't do it...
I mean when Sonic gave them their check they didn't know what to do with it, they seem to live on credit cards. When they bought groceries they asked the clerk "can't you just give it to us"? when they exceeded the amount. They have probably never heard the word NO before in their life.
In the 1st episode a junebug landed on them and they screamed. I'm afraid to admit it but when it comes to creepycrawlies especially junebugs I will clear the room trying to get away too.

Um...these girls are not an act. They are what is referred to as "party girls". Known in Hollywood as girls that will put out to anyone.
The spam emails people are getting, are about a sex video that is making the rounds of the internet, of Paris Hilton and her boyfriend having sex , on a homemade video tape.
These girls are not playing it up for the cameras, they are showing themselves as they truly are, which is a sad sad thing.

This reminds me of the "Church Ladies", you know the ones. They stand out in front after services and tear everyone apart, what they are wearing, where they live, how they raise their kids, etc, etc, etc. Since I take it NO ONE actualy knows these girls on a personal basis, we should save judgements for the mirror.

Perhaps the producers and others are "guiding" the show more than we know.
Perhaps the family and the town are assisting more than they should.
And perhaps the girls are smarter than they appear to be.
Now if a starving and broken person does something stupid and shocking to a community, like steal from the local grocer or baker, there may still be room for understanding and forgiveness because of the living conditions they suffer. Any one of us might do the same thing if we walked in that person's shoes for as long as they have.
Suppose you have no shortage of resources to live by, and someone hands you an opportunity which will permit you to cheat or mislead someone deliberately, to the recepient's harm - and whatever your state of growth and maturity is, you decide to accept.
Doesn't that still reflect upon what that person really is like inside and whether they have matured in a kind and beneficial way?
Perhaps these girls are being goaded into their roles and foolishness, but they are accepting it still of their own free will - aren't they?
And what example are they setting to others who perhaps don't give serious thought to these things and are easily misled? What are these girls, the producers, etc.....teaching by their actions?
Always true is that everybody needs and deserves leniency, understanding and forgiveness. Nobody is made of stone.
But because we are all equal in our responsibility and accountability towards one another, between pure accidental idiocy and deliberate actions there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, much less pole vaulted over or blurred.

Hey SHYGAL,....
Do you know these girls personally???? It sure seems like you must based on your earlier post. The next time you're hanging out with them,... let us all know. It's all a big act, (to some extent). IT'S ABOUT RATINGS FOLKS !!!! And the ratings are sky-high for this show; because it's so stupid, it's funny. Sorta like the classic stupid/funny movie, DUMB AND DUMBER.

Yes it's a television show. So what. Does that exclude it from any kind of standard?
It's still a form of communication, as a letter or a spoken word is.
Why is it permissible to exercise such divergent standards, due to the media type? Don't say "because that's the way it is" because that is no kind of intelligent answer.*
Since we all know it's about ratings, why do WE (as a population) apparently support it? What is driving this division between our appetites for what is good, beautiful, graceful and actually useful, and what is fleeting, destructive and generally harmful?
Do we know any better? Or do we deliberately put blinders on so we can be entertained?
Or.........is it just that, as the citizenry and leadership in old Rome fell into decay possibly out of a social boredom, like a pig rolling in it's own waste......enough of us seem unable to find anything beneficial to occupy our time with, so we begin to form support for things useless, pathetic and disrespectful and call it entertainment.
Many of the youth I've had the "pleasure" of working with in the recent past are entertainment junkies, orbiting their lives around the latest movie or TV show, even arranging their lives and jobs around them. *Their behaviour is rather like a person hooked on an addictive substance, unable to question it or even think clearly about it.
How can encouraging anything like this be considered truly useful, except to the pocketbooks of the producers and those they work for?
What was that saying about idle hands?
I would suggest to the amusement of others that the current path our entertainment industry remains in all indications representative of a downward spiral in morals, mass producing rubbish and spoon feeding it to the simple-minded and impressionable youth of our nations, hopeing somehow they will turn out to be tomorrow's leaders.
Or are these arguments merely tossing pearls before.......?

It seems a great question about homesteading because it questions the status quo regarding the concept of the current health of our citizenry in reference to being able to live without turning into useless social leeches and parasites.
Homesteading is the preceeding step towards the formation of a civilization, a hamlet, a village, a town - a community. Such a community can survive and thrive only if it's citizens are of an intelligent, hardy group of people, not a bunch of party girls and their like.

Thank You georger!
That's right its about the stark contrast between us conscientious folks living on the Homestead and the city folk (morons) who cant even realize that they would starve to death if it wasnt for all the hard working farmers in the world.
Paris would starve if she had just her dog to eat! And she die of thirst not knowing where to go for potable water!

Its boob tube entertainment folks.. Fox pumped nearly a million bucks into the local economy to provide the boob tube with a "reality" show comedy. Enjoy it, thats what its made for :haha:

I am so glad to be viewed as naive. Thats the best....
I do know that people (city and country folk) all need to eat...Paris needs more to eat....anyway just where is the food going to come from without farmers and homesteaders....money trees are not good nutrition!
Wait before you say forage.... I cant see Paris going for a walk to find some food in the wild.....so she would have to eat her little dog after all or die.

Can you hear the crickets chirping, Dave? I love how your comment silenced this debate! :worship: You must have wowed them with your appreciation for fine handbags...I'm personally waiting for Paris to design a line of Gucci-imprinted hoe handles to match my tractor seat cover. :haha:

Just so you know she comes to the farm needing her Hollywood High Maintenance without her credit cards....and she will ask the store just to give it to her if she cant pay. She will not pick up after herself or be on time or on task.....most successful business people are on task and timely. Check out the show......
