I have a Husqvarna I like. Don't go with Poulan or Homelite...worst two saws I ever owned, and I baby my stuff.

For that price range I'd rather find a good dealer and get the best used Husky or Stihl I could instead of settling for a newer saw I could afford. If you could find a Husky 359 you'd be golden.

Aside from it being same saw with different paint, if I were looking for a new or used saw this size, I'd sure give it consideration. Baileys even sells it on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Makita-DCS6401.../dp/B0000DCBIE Take a gander at the reviews. Its a serious saw at far cheaper price than you will find a Stihl or Husky the same size.

I love my smaller Echo saws. They are reliable, durable and run great. They can be a bit underpowered compared to a Stihl though. I have a Husky 55 that is fantastic and I had a Stihl 026 that was great. There are many great saws available theses days take your pick.

Echo made some larger saws though they specialized in small saws. Need a small saw there is none better. Much better small saw than the little cheapo box store saws. Many of larger Echos got sold painted green and sold under John Deere label.

Okay, my bad John. Makita owns Dolmar, the saws are the same. The distributors are completely different. That was my confusion.Plus theres this recurrent rumor of Sachs having a saw still. Got me, I can;t find anything on that.
