I was just checking to see if any body else was paying attention. If it is animal related and can generate them $$$$$$$$$$$ they are against it. Never mind that most of the $$$$$$$ goes into their pocket not to help any animals.

Oops!

Seems the local police, sheriff's deputies, etc. were all out on calls when they started calling for assistance but I understand the score were roping steers - 50 ... protesters - 0 ... and they seemed to understand the term "b------t" from an up close and personal viewpoint!

Well, I'll put my two cents in here. I had a miniature stud who was so abused by a previous owner that it was terrible. This guy tied the horse to a cross tie and proceeded to beat him with a chain. No one called. That guy is now in prison for attempted murder of his wife. He beat her so bad she was close to death. Should someone have called? Your call.
I, too, rescued a 27 year Arab stud who had a single owner. The owner died, his kids came and cleaned out the house but left the horse. For a YEAR this horse stayed at the house with no feed other than what neighbors threw over the fence. He was over 400lbs underwieght when I got him. Should someone have called? You bet! When I got him home, I took pictures and called the Humane Society and told them the situation, so if someone called on me they would already know about it.
Yes, I don't want Big Brother in my business any more then anyone else, but there are times when a call should be made.

I agree. There are times a call should be made. I think the point most of the people have made here, myself included, is that problems arise when people who do not understand what "abuse" is and report care that is adequate but not what the reporting person considers adequate. If it stops there, one call ... not abuse ... end of story ... most people are okay with that.

When it escalates, with the reporting person insisting that if the animal is not being kept in conditions THEY consider adequate, it has to be abuse ... and/or when you have investigators that also do not know what is considered normal and non-abusive for that area (especially in the case of farm and ranch livestock) ... that is when the problems arise.

Your asking others to back up their claims, where's your proof that PETA is all rainbows and sunshine? PETA has been taking animals from shelters for some time alleging that they were rehoming them, only they were really killing them, thought everyone knew that. Also the 17,000 is only what PETA will admit to killing, no one really knows how many animals they have killed. And no, they don't appear to have a legal shelter, but they were using their Norfolk office to keep animals in, the ones they didn't kill right away. So does that make them hoarders? Running an illegal rescue?

Above link is on a website that is for Animal Rights, so its not a biased blog. Well not biased against PETA.

This link below clearly illustrates what was par for the course for the PSPCA just a few years ago, they got a new director that thought he should control all of PA. Now the PASPCA only had 5 shelters in PA, think they only have three now, because they were run out of Monroe County by the community. Donations stopped coming in, and all the rescues refused to work with them because of their illegal search and seizures. Their Animal Control officers often would work in counties in which they were not sworn in to have jurisdiction in. Thats a $10,000 fine I believe in PA. The lawsuits against them are countless, I actually do have a friend who is sueing them, they confiscated some of her rescue horses that were under vet care, and euthenized them on the trailer before leaving the farm. Their probably going to settle with her, as they have with countless others. Their kill rate is high, also their well known for animals in their care dying or being in worse condition than when they were seized. Disease management has plagued them too, cat rescues stopped pulling cats from them for some time because they weren't vaccinating when cats came in, so all their cats were exposed, kittens dying and cats needing extended care. And no, I'm not going to look this all up for you, its your responsibility to educate yourself, not mine, as another HT'er has kindly pointed out, I'm not your Google Mommy. If you want the truth its out there, something tells me your not interested in the truth though.

Its interesting, we have a couple of PETA supporters here on HT, in the past on other forums they existed for one reason, to gather information on other forumers and turn them in to AC, just like the OP of this thread suggested. Not accusing, just relating past experience.
