While we haven't used the Stanley or the Gerber, we love our Leathermans. DH carries 2 at all times and uses them daily. Biggest selling point after functionality is that customer service and warranty. I like to support companies that stand behind their products.

I just checked: Leatherman's factory in is Oregon (ETA: At least product is assembled in the USA). Seems like the right one to support. Fiskars owns Gerber and I cannot find where any of the Gerber items are made in the USA.

There is a SOG available on woot.com today. Seems to have good reviews so I picked one up. Of course when they are gone they are gone (from woot), but I thought I'd post this. I carry a Leatherman Skeletool as my EDC and bought the bit set for it. I like it. Not familiar with the Stanley, but will check it out. One is none and two is one

travis91 has started a thread already on this find...

For the money they charge for one, you could actually buy a couple of functional tools.
The Victronox Swiss Tool and Victronox Spirit are multitools (like a leatherman only better IMHO). I will agree with you about swiss army knives--although the more basic ones are somewhat useful. When the start getting stupid thick then they become useless (with useless features).

The swiss tool paired with a Spyderco VG-10 (made in Seki City Japan) is a hella combination.
