Saw a good Idea today while welding on an old mans gatepost. ive seen him at the scrap yard pickingup mower parts and stuff to tinker with. I was noticing these 2 push mowers he had with plywood bottoms in them. He had ange iron brackets bolted to the sides and bottom holding on theplywood. He had a hole i nthe bottom of one that lead to a big trough. He had a 3 inch pipe flange bolted to the top of that mower with a cap on it. When he wanted to gring feed he takes the cap off and screws on a 2 and a half foot secton of 3 inche pipe. He has a mulching kit on the mower. He has a ton of dried corn on the cob, sunflower and stalks and corn stalks, wheat straw and hay mixed. It made a great batch of feed in a few minutes. He mixes old molasses in the straw and hay before feed ing it in the feed tube.

I was just wondering about this? We would fill a bucket up with corn and water and let is soak 24 hours and then feed it to the pigs. I was just wondering why it couldn't work for cows as well?

Another source of free food is to get yourself a nut picker and run around in the woods somewhere picking up acorns. Cows will eat acorns.

Another idea is to get the ear corn, and offer it up for sale on CL.

I wish you were closer. I'd give you cash for the ear corn, provided it was good stock.

If it sells on CL, then you could just buy the feed you want.

It would take, what, 8 minutes to put up a free ad on CL???

Just break a few ears in half for her every feeding and she will eat the ear corn.No need to grind it.
