Wow, so many! Someone needs to mix every one of the ingredients that you guys mentioned into one bottle and market it as a cure/prevention...minus the peroxide and mouth wash.

Most sore throats are caused by an allergy. To take care of this I take Loraladine 10 mg every day. I haven't had a sore throat in over 8 years but before then I would have many. I don't even have a cold or flue before then I had several per year. You can get it over the counter and cost pennies per day. I now take the generatic brand and have not had any problems from it. Ask your Dr about it if you have liver or kidney disease.

Take some zinc tablets when you feel it coming on. I second CF's recommendation. Only I use Rock and Rye on the rocks. When I don't have that, I use straight whiskey.

Salt water gargle, warm drinks, tequila.....something in Jack Daniels makes me sick as a dog, just Jack, nothing else.

Hot toddy here too. I heat the water and add whiskey, lemon juice and honey. Works wonders!

Try to avoid getting it sore by keeping the moisture up in your sleeping room at night (humidifier). Once it's sore hit the liquor cabinet.

Well apparently the sore throat was from the impending nasty head cold that hit me a day later. Woke up this morning and the cold is leaving, but it decided to settle in my lungs while I was sleeping.

I owe this all to DH. He was sick as a dog and I woke up the other morning with his face 1/2 inch from mine, mouth wide open, snoring like a freight train - those germs prolly threw a party all night long jumping from him to me.

Now if anyone knows of a good natural LUNG expectorant!..........

I have nothing that has not been mentioned. I just wanted to add: I am not one for running to the Dr for every little thing. I usually allow a sore throat to run it's course. My dd and myself had sore throats in Dec that just wouldn't go away. After a week and a half I felt better but then it came back with a vengeance. Swallowing felt like trying to swallow a ball of glass shards. So I got hubby to take me to the Er. Good thing I was hours away from my throat abscessing and needing surgery. The viral infection had turned bacterial. Something to be aware of....

I use Traditional Medicinals Cold Teas whenever I get a head or chest cold. They work really well on coughs.

Licorice root is a very good lung-clearer-outer.

Nick had a wahoo bronchitis a few years ago. Licorice root cleared him right up.

If your colds start with a sore throat, County Life brand zinc lozenges will end a sore throat and stop the cold from moving into your head. It's worked for me for about 20 years. Back then is when I first read about zinc gluconate's ability to stop the cold virus. And you can still operate equipment.

I got rid of one recently with a large serving of hot chicken soup and a nap for about an hour after eating.
