I have heard everyone say over the years repeatedly "Don't go to General Chat" over and over and over. Of coarse like a little kid I just HAD to see what all the fuss was about.... It really is a waste of time! Please don't leave the forum because of that! There is so much wonderful knowledge to glean from this site. Just ignore GC!

Please stay!

I'm a GC regular and let me tell you how to handle it. You handle it just like you should life, you don't let other people run your life. If someone says something that upsets you you either counter it or ignore it and move on. Once you let other people's actions effect your's you have allowed them control of your life.

Excellent advice. I didn't see where anyone put you down specifically in that thread but I may have missed something. I do know that when your heart is aching, it's really easy to take OP's words as a dagger to your soul. (I corrected watcher's post grammatically but only because it BOTHERED ME not because I don't respect his opinion.)

Just for the record........there are 'nice' people over on GT

I'm living proof!!! However, before you throw in the towel tamsam, please consider
that there are a LOT of people that don't share those thoughts (and comments)
that were made on your thread and obviously upset you. I happened to glance through
the other day and was about to come along and add my .02 ......
but decided not to add to the fray already in progress.
Sometimes it's a choice that we make to take a step back and learn to breathe
in fresh air BEFORE decided if it is worthwhile to go and 'mix-it-up'.
Obviously, I choose to go somewhere else and give it the old college try.
As it is right now .....I'm now up to eyebrows in alligators ......and the
market is rather soft since leather bags are just so blase' right now!.......

Please reconsider your departure and just give GT a wide berth for the time being.......
some can take it.......though many cannot.... Still, the wealth of information and other
friends that you meet/make and found only here on HT, is a treasure not likely to be discovered elsewhere.

BTW: IF you thought GT was rough......what do you think the political portion of it is like?!!!

I had to go to the thread to see what the fuss was all about.

This was nothing compared to some of the politics and religion discussions!

C'mon people....everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I have peeked into GC sometimes, read a few things, but 99% of the stuff in there makes me so angry because people seem so blind. I DO NOT like getting into debates with people but when I get sucked into one I just can't stop until I end up bawling or something! lol! The vast majority of topics in GC I wouldn't even dream of opening. Just stay far far away from GC and you will be fine. The rest of the place is great!

C'mon Sam.. don't leave because of THAT thread.
It was one of the kinder, gentler threads about that topic.
Please pick a thread that is really, really, really offensive to leave on. (shouldn't be hard to find one down there)

Please don't leave, tamsam. Stay away from GC. Some of those people are incredibly ignorant! I didn't like alot of what was said on that thread and almost decided myself that I was going to leave HT because of the stupidity and negativity, but I gain too much from the other forums to leave. I will just stay away from GC. Like in real life, just stay away from the idiots and who cares what they think anyway......they are just plain 'ole wrong.

Ok guys thanks for your comments. I will stay but those that want to put down people that are already down remember what goes around comes back around to bite you. I did go back on my word to myself and came back here just to read this post. What gets me really going is all the do gooders that think they are god. I wish them luck when they do have to stand before our maker. I am not patting myself on the back but have in the past did what I could to help someone on holidays but now I am kinda getting paid back for helping those that were in need. Have you ever made a grown man cry just because you knew he had no food for his family on a holiday? well I have by taking food to him so they could have a nice Thanksgiving Dinner. I will say that anyone that goes into WalMart and trys to put down anyone there for buying what they want I have no respect for them. I will let it lay for now and thanks to those that do understand. Sam

Good deal Sam. Glad you decided to stay. Just make sure you want to read and post in GC before doing so, now that you know the mentality there.

Good post Sam, and I'm glad that you're staying. Keep in mind that some of the folks who post in GC are bitterly unhappy people who complain a lot and only post there because they aren't acceptable in other places and have nowhere else to go. Everyone needs some place to go where they can communicate with like-minded people, and GC is one of those places where some misfits feel like they have a place to fit in.

There are also a lot of good hearted and knowledgeable people who post in GC and that helps to balance things out. Don't let some of the negative stuff that happens in GC put you off the rest of HT because overall HT forum is a great forum and you won't find another forum like it anywhere else on internet.

I agree, stay away from GC unless you are in a warped humorous mood (like I do occassionally) and feel the need to laugh at odd things.

I go many, many months without ever setting foot there. Then I'm only usually there for a half hour. Then I'll go many more months without ever setting foot in there

You are one special man Sam, and I wish we could have met you when we travelled through WV that time. Please don't judge us all by a few. If need be, put those that have really upset you on your ignore list so that you don't have to deal with them again. That way we get to keep you!
