Around here they grow corn...corn rules. Im sure after a while grass will be the same in your neighborhood, after all if its legal there wont be the big money in it. Ive heard from a few of the much older generation its actually a pretty easy crop to raise.

nocalfarm. Explaining the situation makes a difference. Not what I took from the first post.

The original question was "what would you do?" From an access or right of way point of view but my view is very very narrow because when I answered I wasn't thinking at all of LEGAL marijuana. How one state can make laws diametrically opposed to federal laws fries my brain. Now that the situation has become one of an adjoining occupation that may be hazardous to your health, I would STILL look up the property owners behiind or adjoining me who do not have legal access that you have run off over the years. They have been biding their time. It looks like their time is now! The tables are turned and it's you who may be run off. I don't know which would be worse, a wal-mart, a subdivision, a sewage treatment plant, or a marijuana farm yikes a LEGAL marijuana farm but you are there and I am here so we have some impending dooms in common. My only advice is to do the best you can with what you've got which in this case would be your own two feet carrying you on a major tour of all local sources of information, maybe starting with your local county attorney. The county attorneys are paid on a regular basis. From time to time I have consulted with them. They always gave me guidance and helpful advice (except for one who was voted out of office next term). Sometimes they are not supposed to give advice but will give reference to some law cases. You as a citizen can get those cases and read them, thus learning very helpful information pertinent to your area and situation. From here it looks to me like you are sitting on a tinderkeg. I hope you post more as events develop further.

Seems the most practical thing to do is to clean up your fence lines, put a Gate where you do not want people straying on your land, security lights - whatever you need to do to feel and be safer. If they are legally using the Easement, there is nothing you can do about it - not that I know of.

We have a similar road situation - four property owners have the right / easement / to use the one road bed that technically I own for the most part, and they own smaller portions. We did all cooperate to put a Gate (without lock) in the middle of the shared road bed and we all keep the Gate closed to get out others. It works just fine - but only because we all agreed and cooperate.

Plan ahead and plant trees and / or a shrub screen to protect your views and you could even plan ahead in case the back acres sell and are developed.

It is frustrating and upsetting when these things happen. It is good to ask for brain-storming ideas from others. Good luck with it all.

Thank you for all of the advice and ideas. Sorry that I didn't explain the situation as well as I should have initially. I did read through it twice before clicking the 'POST' button but somehow I overlooked a few things. It's hard to cover such a complex and confusing situation when you have to condense so much information into a short post.

Since the last post, I talked to a few of them and we have gone in together in putting a gate at the beginning of the road. It won't help with them buying up land but it will keep others out. Also, I found out that they are all related to one another in one way or another which makes me feel better that they aren't just recruiting criminals. They are actually pretty nice people, I just don't agree with their operation. So... for now, seems things will go alright but I'm sure that there will be more issues down the road.

Thanks again!
