Well problem solved. My dh has taken posession to feed to the deer.
Although, now I wonder. Can I plant this grain for a harvest?

piglady,
Do you have a rough estimate of how much DE to use for 25 lbs of grain? I have been freeze treating (freeze for 72 hours, bring to room temp for 3 weeks, then refreeze for 72 hours), but we are completely out of freezer space. I am grateful for that little problem, but treating with DE sounds like a good solution.

Glad free protein don't bug me
For what it is worth. Don't ever look at your so called nice clean well water under a microscope either. LOL

I would probably try scooping out the bugs and then freezing it. My only concern would be if I brought it in the house the bugs might spread and it's a real pain to kill off the moths once they get out in the house.

Wheat isn't that expensive. I'd freeze this lot to stop them, then feed it to the poultry a tin at a time. I'd replace it with good cheap cleaned feed grain from a feed store, freeze that immediately, then bag it with an oxygen absorber per bag or vacuum bag it. If you're prepared to deal with it in five-gallon lots, maybe throw some dry ice in with it, drop the lid on loosely, then seal the lid up when most of the ice has disappeared (turned into CO2 and sunk down, displacing the air and replacing it with CO2).
