Look for Google Earth and download the program. It is very easy to use. I put a map of my appraisal subject in every report because it really shows the surroundings.

We used google earth when looking for our new home. It was a handy tool to show where the properties where in relationship to each other as well as DH's work.

My problem with Google earth is that it still shows my farm as it was years ago, do they ever update?
I mean it looks like the whole farm is nothing but trees, but I have 12 acres in paddocks, a barn, other outbuildings, etc. and none of that shows up on google earth.

Do I see a Latitude and Longitude on your photo, can we all come for dinner? Really nice place, and you are a "Master Map Googler".

Man some of you folks have some really crazy property boundaries. Most of the ones around here are squares and rectangles.

Mine was originally part of a 400 acre farms that got divided between various heirs over the years. The strange divisions gave them all nearly equal values and farmable land
The seperate section I own on the left is all pasture that was cut off from the larger farm to the left of it when a bridge across a canal collapsed, and I convinced the guy to sell it to me rather than spend the money to fix the bridge

Not to be a pest, but if it's really important I would remove the route number as well. Took about 2 minutes to find on google maps.

This is ours. We just got it last Fall. The black line is a lane we've put in with a culvert in the waterway (in the woods). The blue is a very approximate site of the future pond so the trees within the circle are now gone. There is a pretty big ravine there that will be utilized in the pond. We also put in a approx. 100x100 fenced garden site to the left of the pond area and below the lane line. Thirty-five acres of this quarter section are ours. There is a five acre piece in the upper right corner that is COE land.
Lot's of work in our old age!

I went to the Google "home page" and clicked maps; then typed in our nearest city and waited and waited and waited. The little icon on my bottom bar stayed dark showing no activity; yet still I waited ... nothing.
I "refreshed" the page and started again. The same thing occurred. Again I tried ... still when it got to the loading of our nearest city, the icon went dark and nothing every showed up in the area where the map was to be. I gave up!

Here's a shot from the GIS site. GoogleEarth doesn't show property lines, and they're too hard to figure out in the middle of the woods. Our property is 7 acres, but we've been trying to buy the adjacent mobile home at the lower left for 3 years now. It's come up to auction several times, but it never closes, and is still owned by the mortgage company. No one can figure out why the closing fails, and the mortgage company won't talk to us (???) This shot is from winter of '08.

You might start with using your phone number! That alone will get me to pretty much everyone's house, unless their physical address is different than their 'legal' address. Or, unless a person has requested their phone number information be deleted from google's servers.
Phone number don't work? Try your mailing address. If you have a 911 address, you're probably golden. If you live off a 'real road', you may have google road view (can see your house, from ground level).

Here is mine, I cannot get my pic to look at good as the others here. I have over 100 acres, mostly very very wooded, so I had to zoom out alot to get most of it the picture.

I don't really worry about it since it's so easy to find other ways too.
People still have to get past the 7 dogs!
