Threads like these are always enlightening because it reminds me of just how many people don't have a sense of humor.

Epidurals are "spinal cocktails" that make you go numb from the waist down, for HOURS.
"Safe post delivery drugs"....yeah. They say they 'won't pass through breast milk" so you can take those for post delivery.

Haven't had a baby in almost 17 years and that's the way it was back then! Had a gf who just delivered 2 years ago, and her LDR room was pretty posh. She had people bring her whatever she wanted. Ice packs, heat packs, more meds, etc. She opted for the C-section because she didn't want to go "through the pain".
My understanding is that the recovery time for a C is far longer and more painful than a vag birth? Maybe someone with a RN degree can help me out with this???
Wow. I had my last baby 25 years ago...........no pain meds, no epidural, nothing, nada, just kept telling me to breathe!!! HA! I wanted to kick the nurse, doctor and my husband all in the and tell them to breathe thru the pain!! LOL! Have to say, recovery time was nil though so, looking back, it was probably better for me and my babies.

My daughter has little ones, the most recent was two months ago. Her deliveries were so fast though, there was just no time to give her any drugs. Her recovery time was quick too.

Laura, recovery time for a c-section is supposed to be longer but for me it was 10 times easier than my last baby who came out the way God intended.

YIKES!
I photographed a home birth...the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. She (the mother) was totally in the zone. Yeah, there was 'pain' but some how she totally managed it with breathing, motion, and the hot tub (not hot though). She was up showering as soon as the afterbirth was expelled!
What an amazing woman.
I admire women who can birth "ah la naturel"!!

PS: Have a sense of humor, when it's funny, and not a reflection of our twisted society. Just fail to see the humor in that!!

So that excruciating pain I felt wasn't real? Not everyone goes for the pain killers. Some of us who use the pain meds find they don't work. Some of us choose pain meds that just dull the pain. Some of us must have emergency C-sections to save our lives or the lives of our children. None of those things are pain free.

I've had babies naturally and by a classical C-section to save my 22 5/7 week daughter. Ya, I was under general anesthesia during the surgery. Believe me, the pain from that is unbelievable and indescribable. Couldn't walk well for weeks. So, yes, it was way, way, way more painful than a vaginal birth without anesthesia.
