Yes. When I was a kid, dry dog food came in 50#, 25#, and 10#. I can't remember if they had 5# back then.
The bags started shrinking a lot of years ago: 40/20/8.
Then 35/18/7.
Somewhere along the way 5# went to 4#, then 3.5#
Now some brands are are even smaller.
Some of the 35# (originally 50#), are now 32#.
Some of the 18# (originally 25#), are now 16#.
Cans used to be 16oz. Those have shrunk to as small as 12 and 13 ounces. I guess they will be 11oz next.

I don't mind some quart mayo's going from a full quart down to 30 ounces, as much as I do the abandonment of glass jars to plastic. I have almost zero use for plastic bottles... the glass jars I use forever, till accidentally broken. Alas, no more... only a few off brand of spiced up sandwich brews are still in glass.

I hate those plastic jars! And it's not just mayo. Almost everything that used to be in glass is now in plastic.
And the coffee used to all be in metal cans. Now most of them are plastic. Some are cardboard.

I agree about hating those plastic jars! It is getting harder and harder to find anything in glass anymore.
I was just telling my grandkids about feed coming in 100# bags. I can remember being able to lift that weight too!

I like using the "Squeeze Bottles" both in Ketchup, Mustard, Salad Dressing.~! As I don't buy mayo, Only Miracle Whip lol.
I even have soft cars of peanut butter, and a few times I get Jelly/peanut butter together in one squeeze bottle. Nice for PB & J
As I have no use for any glass bottle they just take of space in the garbage, and don't burn up in the burning barrel.
Boy am I glad horse feed is no longer in 100 # bags.~ As I just turned 60 and those bags now would be too heavy.
Even when I have feed mixed, I tell the mill to add another bag and don't go over 75#'s and even those are a bear to handle.
I was still able to get 55 # bags of dog food, but now I gave my dog away so I no longer need to buy that~!
But then again I would rather have a smaller amount then the price going sky high ~!!!
Even my friends that sell coffee by the case, 84 count pre measured pouches, they are cutting back to 82 so they don't have to raise the price to the customer, that has happen years and years in the retail part. and some are now just figuring it out. Oh Well keeps the over price down. And that is good for the shopper, and that is the bottom line for companies.
And besides it cuts down on folks eating so much if the bags like chips and such soda, whatever and that is all good, as many times on here ya all say we are too fat a nation, well this IS one way to help that out don't ya know.

Miracle Whip
Miracle Whip IS now in 30 oz container. I just picked some up a week ago and said to DD does this look smaller to you? She said no but when I got home and threw out the old container - sure enough the old one was 32 oz and the new 30 oz!

Uh, sure your dog didnt just starve to death? Just because dog food or other animal feed is sold in smaller bags, doesnt mean your animal needs to eat less!! Duh!!! You just have to buy more of the smaller bags at a higher mark up. Its going to cost more however you figure it.

This proves how observant or unobservant some people may be. Hellmann's reduced their mayo from 32 to 30 ounces in 2006. Been that way for 4 years!

I just looked at out Hellman's mayonaise jar, ours is 40 oz. It says 33% bonus across the top of the jar. I found all of your missing mayonaise, it's in my jar.

I still buy 7 oz. cans of tuna
I don't have much use for 4 1/2 oz. cans of tuna. I love the solid white albacore tuna packed in water and sold in 7 oz cans -- Kirkland brand at Costco - of course they are sold in packs of 8 cans. Still, nice to have enough tuna to make a couple of sandwiches.

Like others - I have seen this happening for quite awhile - but worse lately. Cost reduction across many industries is getting creative.
I really watch the sales, use coupons, and check the cost per ounce/gram/pound/etc. to make sure I get the maximum amount for each dollar.
Take care all -

I chose the old out dated sand, gravel, and lava rock.

I wonder what the expiration date IS for sand, gravel and lava rock...
