How hot has been in the UP this summer?

I'm getting things in order so that I can take a trip through there this fall. I used to live in the UP 40+ years ago and have a lot of fond memories.

We've been seeing a lot of dead coons on the road, I thought it was early. Not possums or skunks, just coons.

Our coon population is up this year too. I heard some go by the bedroom window last night.

I had a flock of Canada Geese fly over yesterday evening. Seemed a little early to see them, but considering the heat index hit 117 today and is supposed to be higher tomorrow I wasn't all that surprised to see they were headed north, not southh! I may join them!

My crazy bunch went to Gulf Shores this weekend. My DD ask didn't we want to go and I quickly told her NO! I am trying to get my garden cleaned out so I can build my raised beds back and get my fall garden started. I would love some cooler weather but if it comes to early I might not have much of a fall garden so I guess I'll say I hope we don't have an early winter.

We were heating with our wood stove in JUNE and a few times in JULY. So, I sure hope Winter isn't early, we just got summer! A strange one, at that. You start out 60F in the morning, and usually up to 80F, some days 90F, then drops back in the 50s at night. No, that is not our typical summer weather at all. I like this weather, won't complain, but everything we are growing here is late late late!

My garden produced diddly and it did it all early....but yet I had to plant late because of snow. Not much from the garden this year for sure.

The Crepe myrtle came into bloom about a month early, ditto with some of the other tell tales.
Most tomato pollen melts at 80 degrees.

The hickory trees along the roadsides are loaded (branches breaking type loaded) and I've never seen that. Squirrel heaven. But also it bodes ill for a mild winter to happen.

I've seen lots of black birds, it seemed early to me. I picked my second ripe tomato today. I'm hoping for a long fall.

Our burning bushes are already turning their bright red color, and is sure isn't because of any dry weather we've had around here, thats for sure.

My trumpet vine looks like it is done blooming. Usually late August to early September before that happens.

I have noticed signs of an early fall here in NY , except for the heat, The whole season has been three weeks earlier than std, but seeing birds flocking in late July was alarming !

I've seen one seasonal marker for me, and it's right on time: The very first early New England Asters are showing up. I start to see them the last few days of July, first few days of August every year, and that's just what I'm seeing this year. So as far as I can tell the seasons are plodding along as usual with nothing early or late in Northern NYS.

You know now that you mention that I have not seen any sign of our late Summer flowers. No asters or goldenrod and normally it would be up here.

yep.. I think it'll be early this year. The trees are starting to turn, birds are flockin up, horses coats are already starting to thicken (despite the weeks of 90-100 temps).

The corn isn't even close to shading the whiskey bottles yet. This is unacceptable.
