Leatherman. We each have one, and they're great.
Love the 25 year guarantee. Send in the knife, get a new one return mail.

Yea, they make some neat stuff!
Luckily, they’re about 50% off in the PX, which makes them about reasonable. At list price or close to it, I think there are better values out there.

I've always got some sort of multitool, but have been pleasantly surprised by several low-cost Cold Steel products: 12" Sax (discontinued) or Bowie machetes, and the Roach Belly fixed blade. Got them for cheap, but it turns out they were just inexpensive.
Might be worth checking out if you're looking.

Victorinox hunting knife with lockin blade, or whatever is in my farm coat. I try to keep one cheap folding blade in every coat I might wear. For big jobs I keep my grandfather's Woodman's Pal handy.

Used to tote a Case 3 Blade Stockman when I was cutting calves and ear marking but now days I carry a Spyderco. Lots easier to open.

I carry one of these bad boys. I don't like folding knives. I like fixed blades. It either fits on my belt or if I'm wearing overalls, then I can tuck its sheath into a side pocket and have it out of my way easily enough. My particular one has the words "Molon Labe" engraved on the handle.

I have carried the Spyderco Delica for nearly 20 years -- I like the all-stainless model with the stainless scales (handle) as it is thin in my pocket and easy to spot if it is dropped. The Japan-made Spyderco knives are superior, but pricey. Easy to open one-handed, hold an edge, durable. Great knife.
I've recently started carrying the Kershaw Cryo, which is an assist-opening knife. I was leery of a made-in-China knife, but it has stood up to the challenge. This is my daily carry in dress clothes for work or jeans around town. It is titanium coated -- black -- so doesn't stand out like the stainless Spyderco. The AO feature is really slick on the Kershaw.
I usually also have my Gerber multi-tool in my jacket pocket, but not on my belt . . . I start to look like Batman when I hang too many things on my belt!

Not the sort of thread I'd ordinarily chime into, but the Victorinox name kept grabbing my attention. Years ago, we were walking to the truck at a big show when I stumbled on a tiny Victorinox Swiss knife on the ground. I put it on my keychain and use it almost every day. It stays sharp, has a scissors and tweezers which are very good quality and get used all the time. That knife cut my seatbelt when I rolled my Jeep a few years ago, so I'm really glad I had it. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Guys, get your significant other one of these; they're priceless.

I carry a variety of cheap lock-back single blade folders with built in belt clips, right up till I bend the point using it as it's not supposed to be. Then it's back to the jar at the checkout counter at ACE for another one.
For town carry or hunting, I have several nice/expensive brand-name fixed and folding knives.
But I always have a knife. I'm so lost that when I fly somewhere without checked baggage, one of the first things I do when I land is to pick up another knife....that I mail home from the airport if it cost more than a few bucks.

Yep best made knife ever. At least in my opinion.
I am very hard on knives. I have found if it is not 100% stainless it just falls apart for me in a year or so.
The first Delica I had I left on a rental tractor. The guy at the shop found it an put behind the counter but one of the employees stole it. So.....since he knew he put it there he bought me another one that I still have to this day and carry it every day everywhere.

I'm the same way. I lack that "downtime" at the end of tasks to properly clean and oil the knives I have been using. I'm good about wiping off blood and hair but not real good about wiping away apple juice from a peeled apple or okra sap from harvesting.
What has helped me is to keep a coffee can full of sand in my shop by the entrance to the door. I poured a half quart of clean oil into that sand initially and so it's pretty saturated. When I come in, I take my knife out and plunge it down into the sand and leave it sitting there until I walk out again. The sand scours the blade clean and the oil helps protect the blade. Just doing this every couple of days seems to prolong the life of the non-stainless blades.
Almost all of the stainless steel blades you buy today are 440c stainless steel, which is sort of the cheap standard. I have some blades I've made out of S30V stainless and I have found them to be much superior in the wear and tear department. They tolerate abuse and neglect much better than the average knife.

I like stainless steel. The Victorinox are very nice knives for meat cutting. But my best knife is a tin(?) bladed hunting knife. The thing is incredibly sharp and holds its edge better than any. Ironically it was also my first knife which I bought as a child and made my own leather handle for that fit my hand. I carried it all through school. That would get me suspended now but this was back before zero tolerance.

My favorite is a bone handled Case medium stockman that I've been carrying for some 15 years now. It has the chrome vanadium blades so it is easy to sharpen yet holds an edge well.
Also have an Old Timer 8OT with carbon steel blades that I like. Only issue with it is that it is a fairly large pocket knife and it is sometimes a bit more than I like in my pocket.

Leatherman. Use it on something every day. Couldn't be without it. I never carried a knife before I got the Leatherman.
While I'd never take it on an airplane, in most places it isn't looked upon as a knife, but folding pliers with multi-purpose tools added.

I always carry a knife & I have a few nice non folders, including dad's.
Years ago I got tired of the Buck 110 making my belt sag and bought a Gerber Ar3.0 then one day at Wal Mart I passed a buck lite in orange camo and the blade said made in USA.
The pocket clip had broken on my Gerber and I was tired of the knife outline in my back pocket so I tossed the $19.99 Buck in my cart.
Fast forward a few months on a Sunday afternoon I left the house walking the dogs. About 200 yards from home I see, coming directly at us from a distance, a pit bull. In seconds it came up, started growling and as I tried to ease the dogs away it clamps on our female's front leg.
Kicking and screaming didn't affect the situation so I pulled out my Buck and went on the offensive. After attacking the pit and stabbing it about 10 times w/ no effect; it released her leg and made a lunge at her belly but she sprang up and escaped w/ just a nip [needed stitches] on her belly.
The pit turned and attacked the male [I never left go of his leash] and they locked jaw to jaw as I stared the second offensive attack. Again after about ten stabs, the Pit broke off and grabbed his right flank and I then went on to my third attack which ended when the Pit left go of my dog and just laid down.
During the first melee I squeezed the release and the knife folded on my right index finger that needed three stitches.
While this was the most violent thing I've ever done; I shudder to think what would have happened if it was my wife or one of the neighbor's children walking their puppy.
I feel this season's 8-point's blood sort of sanitized away the bad juju from the Pit's blood.
I now carry UDAP bear spray when i walk the dogs. The vet bills were over $2100.00 and you would never know they were mauled.
The pit, who broke out of a home almost 1/2 mile away, was described as 'having problems with other dogs and it was put down that evening.
The Buck was still factory sharp yet it took 30+ strikes. At the end I was really angry and remember feeling my hand impacting the pit's side so it had to be doing a massive amount of internal damage.
The police said I did what I had to do. Interesting as this is New Jersey and I expected them to confiscate the knife and/or file some sort of charges against me. This state treats air rifles the same as any firearm to the extent that the quiet models w/ the sound absorbing 'bulge' in the barrel are considered suppressed firearms...
Since the owner euthanized the Pit, she avoided court and dangerous dog charges. Animal control was limited to mailing her a 'off leash' ticket she could pay by mail.
Her homeowners paid my vet bills and ER co-pay.
I even carried my Gerber in my tux pocket when my oldest daughter was married. It ended up cutting someone's stray thread too!

I carry a small Case stockman 3 blade. Small being , 3 1/2" closed. I had a 3" but I loaned it to a guy that worked for me and he laid it down and that was that.
I prefer a small pocket knife for daily carry. I can do anything with it that the 4 1/2 " or larger knives do and it is more comfortable in my pocket. I use a smallish sheath knife when hunting and a custom sticker when hog doggin.
