Anyways, plastic messes with or mimics or both, with hormones. Hormones direct expression of sex(as in male or female, not "sexuality" as in who you are attracted to), as in development of sex organs and fertility. In males this affects things as in "feminizing", as in low sperm count and under- or un-developed gear, or "expression" of testosterone. Still a VERY different thing than homosexual behavior. All the various articles I've seen dealing with the problem of feminization of males(from plastic, soy, or estrogen in the water) speak to the hormone problem--calling that problem "homosexual" is misleading and derogatory(saying that they are defectives caused by plastic).

Feminization of males is THE serious FUBAR scenario--no sperm, no offspring. Homosexuals still produce sperm--identify the problem correctly and wake up.

And, um, lots of fat messes with hormones too--where do you think MOOBS come from? estrogen from lotsa fat. Are we crusading just as much against too much fat? nope. It's easy to blame plastic.
Well, plastic may be part of the problem. (I also have not seen a fat fish.) I'll have to look into fatness causing homosexuality.

Where is this sea of plastic that will never decompose...

please don't! you entirely missed my point and are a great example of perpertuating agenda in trying to find information.

I agree with Chickpea, that flushing away hormones from medication(peeing the Pill away) is causing a horrendous problem, and the pills have much more causation than plastic. But since we NEED the Pill (and I suppose hormone replacement therapy comes under this as well), that issue gets a free pass. Just like my point that excess fat screws up one's hormones.

But go ahead, fritterhammer away at the easy scapegoat, while we FUBAR our world anyways because we can't take a hard look at our existance and make hard real choices.

That said, I've always avoided plastic whenever possible, plastic touching my food, plastic touching my body. I also have to say that having an immune system and a healthy body firing on all cylinders helps a LOT too.

Um... I have no clue where you're coming from. Scapegoat? The Pill? Perpetuating agenda? Look, we did a bunch of research and found plastic harmful, so we stopped using it.

As to spatulas that melt simply switch to the high heat silicone ones.

Harry, you can smooth the chipped edges of bowls in a number of ways. As I recall a whetstone will smooth them but will be rough on the stone. Carborundum wet or dry paper will probably work too. Easiest and fastest is of course chucking up a diamond tool in a Dremel or other high speed rotary tool and using it.

My point, actually, was not melting spatulas, but the high-heat ones. Plastic migrates the fastest when hot, which means tv dinners are large migraters, because of the lightweight plastic used. Microwave safe simply means it won't melt.

Just to clarify are you saying you think the pill should get a free pass or that we are giving it one and it shouldn't? I do think it is a very serious problem and I think they need to figure out some way of getting it out of the water system.

I say "we"(as in culture, society) are giving the Pill a free pass in this issue and shouldn't.

Alice, could be that the children are being poisoned maybe not by plastics but by the overconsumption of carbohydrates..see the movie FATHEAD and read the book Good Calorie Bad Calorie.

I had been taught my entire life the food pyramid and to eat lots of whole grains and fruits and vegetables..and now i find out that "good" diet is what was killing me..

since severely limiting carbohydrates i have lost 20 pounds and regained most of my blurred vision, lessened my pain and have more energy and sleep better, my hair and nails have gotten stronger and i just feel 100 % better..so don't assume it is the plastics.

I know! We can use the aluminum foil to cover our heads AND cook our foods. And we can go back to using ivory for our piano keys.......

Hm, the ivory sounds nice. How about using lead piping again for the plumbing? Let's make TVs out of wood again, and use goat intestines for IV tubes.

If plastics cause homosexuality or medications entered into the water tables then why has it been around since the beginning of time?

Um, it hasn't... Or, depends on how you define Beginning of Time.
