I don't know exactly by vehicle but I can come close.
1929 Ford Model A $38
Tubular Framed Dune Buggy, $38
2004 Ford Explorer $145
1998 Ford F-150, 2 wheel drive, $38
and I am tickled pink with that! I can remember buying a new 1985 Ford Tempo and paying almost $400 for the plates for it. We got the lottery and the cost of plate renewal dropped.
I am also tickled w/ my property taxes. They have dropped to 10% of what I did pay. However I think we are too low. I think they need to double from what they are and that would be reasonable.

Now how many years are they good for?
If they are good for 8 years then that is not bad at all. like in WI I believe it is 8 years before one has to renew drivers license. so at 35 bucks it is not bad at all.

on the flip side, we pay around 39 cents of every gallon of gas into a dedicated state tax for new roads. it's why tn is first in the country for good roads and 49th in education. it's really really backwards.

I am not sure how good roads equate to poor education. I would much prefer my fuel tax go to the infrastructure than some fund that can be raided at will. As far as money for schools goes, I came from an area that spent $11,000 per year per child, and to be honest, most of them are as uneducated as a box of rocks... I am not sure money is the answer..

No inspections.
Depends on the year of the car.
2002 Honda van is around 125.00
1991 Miata around 50.00
( and this is with the 'lottery' break. that's how they sold IN on the lotto....they would 'give us money back' on our plates.)

'96 Toyota sedan, $28 annually for tags plus annual safety and emissions inspection about $30. Taxes dunned in each county and due soon after inspection is reported, yippee. Our old county was $9/year and our current county wanted $21.

Ahh yes the wheel tax.
I just went and looked at my renewal. Tn tag fee is $24 for a renewal on a registration for a standard pass. vehicle tag. In TN license plates have the county on the bottom of them. When you tag or renew in your county you then pay an additional wheel tax depending on your county. This gets you an additional little sticker for the other corner of your license plate. In my county the wheel tax is $27 added to the $24 for a total of $51. Now if you are buying plates for a vehicle you just bought ther is additional origination fees and such which bring it up to $62 for the first licensing. Of course you also pay sales tax if you purchased a used vehicle.
Now of course you wonder just what is a wheel tax and where does that money go. Well the last time they added to the wheel tax it was to buy new school buses in my county. You'd think they'd have them buses paid off by now but somehow once they get a source of revenue they somehow always find a place to spend it. They did talk about raising it another $20 this year and it's still up for discussion as they need money to balance the budget shortfall.

I can only speak for the local county. We only get new tags about every five years. Sticker process. About $25 per vehicle - no inspection. We also don't have to license trailers. Some counties in TN have a vehicle wheel tax making tags there higher.
Been quite a while since I lived in FL, but it seems like at that time it depended on whether or not the axels were left under it. If they were, it was taxed as a trailer. If they had been removed, it counted as a house.

Actually trailers do require a license plate in TN, they just don't enforce it. The only trailers exempt are farm trailers being used for farm use only. A trailer license plate is a one time permanent license plate. Most never research the law and everyone tells everyone else you don't need a license plate. Even the tag office and local police will tell you this.

As far as I can tell, privately owned non-commercial trailers do not require registration or tags when used in the state of Tn. You can look at this link: http://dmvanswers.com/questions/377/...ation-required and/or visit the state site for more info. If you use your trailer out of state, they do require you to register and tag it....

Annual registration for a 10yo 'bubble' here in Queensland, Australia is around $800. Costs increase with size of engine etc. No inspection is required, but in other states it is - and that costs, too. Even a no-engine trailer costs to be registered annually, but I don't know how much that is.
