We had the same problem with our place here. Last month I ended up buying a whole house system that takes care of Iron and Sulfur. The bad thing about it is that it cost $2150 installed. The good thing about it, the only thing that I have to do is 1 time a month add 1 quart of plain bleach to a bottle sitting beside it.
We only had 1 PPM of iron but our sulfur was sort of bad. Did not trouble me but the wife hated it.
Now out water is sulfur free as well as iron free and very soft. When it was tested it showed no hardness at all in it.
We live about 15 miles from Silver Springs Florida that comes out of the ground 99.8 % pure.

we paid for a water analysis, about 12$ and they gave dosage instructions for chlorine
we had bacteria in our water after the initial drilling
well worth the expense, no problem now
we found a local lab in the yellow pages, they provided the sterile container to collect the sample

Just follow the simple directions from this webpage to disinfect (or "shock") your well and plumbing system: http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/e...sinfection.pdf

Another solution if you find, in a couple weeks, that the smell is back.

Pour a gallon of 29% hydrogen peroxide into your well. Run your faucets, both hot and cold, for 10 minutes (drain NOT into your septic system, or, if you do, add biologicals to your drain the next day), then wait for 2 hours.

Hydrogen peroxide kills EVERYTHING, but it also evaporates from the water within an hour at any point exposed to air.

We use it to sterilize water that is used in our aeroponics seed starter units. After a half an hour, the water is safe to be poured on delicate seedling roots, but it IS sterile of all bacteria.

Off topic but... I love Silver Springs! We bought a piece of property in the Dunnellon area that we'd hoped to build a retirement home on. The water in your area is wonderful!!

We have sulfur water and use a simple system to remove it. The water is pumped through spray heads into a large, unpressurized, vented storage tank. Between the spraying and sitting the water degases before it comes to the house.

Any hydroponics supply store and many gardening stores. I think some hardware stores carry it also.
