If I could, I'd do without lawn altogether. I't makes no sence, such a useless monoculture.

I love having a neat trimmed lawn. I wish I had a bigger one.

Being able to run thru the grass barefood, lay down on a blanket and read a book, play fetch with my dog. I like space - wide open space. It's relaxing to look out across a lawn and not have your gaze intruppted by trees, gardens, woods, sheds . . .

my DH mowed on Sat, by Monday Iwas telling him that it needs it again, this time of year it grows so darn fast.

we love mowing with the tractor once a week around the house. if company is coming, we even get out that evil weedwhacker thing and make it look so neat around all the flower beds. we mow about an acre. it isn't golf course looking grass..lol...but we like it neat. as mentioned..no snakes, less ticks, and it's just not a big deal to us to do it. (my hubs drives by the back door..raises his arm...I hand him a beer. yeah, it's a hard life) now my neighbor mows a 5 acre patch he has, that he can't see from his house, every week. we always wonder why. but...guess it's just his pleasure. all our farm neighbors have mowed grass around the house. guess it's just no big deal here.

Oh yes, nothing like the smell of fresh mown grass. takes me back to the time when i use to sit on the bridge over a little brook on our land and watch my father use the sythe. (there were probably mowers but i never saw one when i was a kid)i mow about 3 acres. the rest is in woods. ~Georgia.
